One of the earliest Optical Businesses in Santa Ana was The American Optics Company (AOC). AOC was founded by two men named George Washington Hill and Samuel Morse. They started AOC because they wanted to provide their customers with high-quality products at a reasonable price. Additionally, AOC believed that optics could be used for education purposes. Therefore, they offered classes and lectures on all aspects of optical technologies. This increased attention from residents of Santa Ana led to an increase in business for The American Optics Company (AOC). Eventually, AOC became one of the leading companies in the industry. However, it wasn’t until 1892 that AOC opened its first store inside of what is now known as Staples Center – which is currently home to Los Angeles Lakers basketball games! This event marked a major milestone for A OC because it helped solidify their place as one of Orange County’s top retail organizations! The population of Santa Ana was 383,967 as of 2010. The area now called Santa Ana was part of Rancho Santiago de Agua Caliente Mexican land grant given to Juan Jose Cisneros on November 15, 1821. In 1836, Englishman Hernando Boudreaux established a post office at what is now known as Main Street. After years of service by mail carrier J.H. McCullough, it became an incorporated town on February 14th, 1849 with a population of 508 citizens. On April 25th 1860, the name was changed to Santa Ana because it then Borden bought part of Rancho Santiago de Agua Caliente from Juan Jose Cisneros for $5 per acre (1/4 mile).

Santa Ana is a city in southern California, located on the San Gabriel River. As of 2010, the population was 63,098. In 1768 Spanish-Mexican Captain José Joaquín de Balboa sailed up the San Andreas Fault and sighted what he thought were two villages on either side of the river before sailing onward without stopping at any more villages or towns until he reached Isla de la Juventud about 25 miles northward beyond modern-day Santa Ana. He named this place Isla de Nuestra Señora del Rosario after his patron saint, Our Lady of Rosary Cathedral being then just south across La Brea Avenue from what is now downtown Santa Ana. In 1795 Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Nieto organized an expedition against Tuxtla Gutierrez with fifty men under Captains Gaspar de Portolá and Vicente Guerrero y Valdés seeking to establish control over allSAN DIEGO COUNTY area east of the Mission Viejo Creek including today's Irvine Park as well as extending inland some 12 miles into present day Coachella Valley outside modern day Irvine Ranch Townsite Plan No 4). land grants were given out for Rancho San Buenaventura including that now lying within Downtown Santa Ana also known as East Anaheim Hills drained by Don Pedro Menéndez Crespi via North Main Street running along East Oakwood Drive thence down East Imperial Highway to its confluence with West Main Street near today’s Interstate 5 interchange northeast cornering Don Quijote Boulevard east side adjacent to Santiago Canyon Open Space Preserve within City Limits bounded by South streets Streets southeast cornering Harbor Boulevard northwest cornering Drinker Road then northeast cornering First Street longitude measured east longitude measured west where Riverside Avenue crosses Harbor Boulevard thence Northeast Corner intersection with Harbor Blvd., next street crossing Drinker Road enters City limits bounds turning Southeast corner onto Higueras Road thence enteringCity Limits again turning Southwest Corner onto Western Ave
In 1821, the Spanish Mission Santa Ana was founded in what is now Orange County. In 1826, some of the land that would make up Orange County was acquired by a group of Americans who named themselves the Irvine Company. The company developed citrus fruits and vegetables and built a small town called Irvine on what is now the eastern edge of Anaheim Hills. In 1868, Queen Victoria granted royal charter to the new county of Los Angeles, and in 1871, Irvine became part of Los Angeles County.
