Santa Ana, California is a city in southern Orange County, California. The population was 134,433 as of the 2010 census. As Californias second-largest city after Los Angeles and the largest within the San Bernardino metropolitan area, Santa Ana has become an important center for technology and entertainment industry development in Southern California. The City of Santa Ana was founded on December 12th 1871 by Captain James Irvine and his company of pioneers when they arrived from Northern California to found a temporary military post on Rancho Niguel. On May 20th 1872, the town was named after Saint Anthony of Padua by Father José Gomez y Mendoza. In 1916, Mayor Manuel Nieto leased part of what is now downtown Santa Ana from Commodore John Doolittle for $1 million in order to provide land for new commercial development including movie theaters and parks. The first building constructed in downtown Santa Ana was the Masonic Temple which was dedicated on July 14th 1916. It served as both a social club for business people and an anchorage for ships during World War I; however it burned down in 1937. In 1949, Mayor Arturo Fuentes approved plans by Hollywood Pictures Corporation to build two giant movie complexes on then undeveloped land near downtown Santa Ana - one called Regal Center and another called El Capitan Centre – with only 24 hours notice given to local residents who were not allowed access to see or be heard about the projects until they were finished. TheMovieMakers had been granted film tax breaks by then Governor Goodwin Coleman that continued until 1986 when all state approvals were withdrawn due to corporate greed following allegations of bribery at Hollywoods Durango Film Project in Mexico City.. After years of protest against this blatant disregard for community standards, finally construction commenced on El Capitan Centre in 1975 near where today's University Avenue meets Highway 92A (now Interstate 615). Today’s Downtown Santa Ana is home to many popular retailers such as Macy’s Department Store (opened 1909), JCPenney (1954), Sears Roebuck & Co.(1955), Kmart(1965), Disney Store(1989) and Belk(1994). Restaurants located throughout the core district include Paseo de la Reforma into whichCandlestick Park flowed prior to being built upon; Century 21 mall anchored by Safeway (1984) across Main Street; Charter Communications Center adjacent Dodger Stadium off I-615 south; Honda Regional Plaza adjacent Staples stores; BankUnited Centers across Harbor Boulevard from UTCtech Village In addition several high-profile preservation projects are underway or have recently completed such as: Cathedral Square Historic District (completed 2013); Thunderbird Heights Historic District (completed 2016); Donnybrook Adobe & Temescal Park Neighborhood Association Historic District (completed 2018). While much progress has been made over recent decades there remain several critical issues that need attention including gentrification which threatens historical integrity along with limited public funding available for redevelopment initiatives
Gun swivels have a long and varied history, dating back to at least the 16th century. Originally designed as a way to improve aim while shooting handguns, gun swivels soon became common among rifle owners and soldiers. Today, they continue to be used in many different ways, both personal and military. One of the earliest examples of gun swivels is dated to 1582, when an Italian engineer named Angelo Mazzoleni designed a type of firearm that incorporated a wood cocking handle that could be rotated around its axis to change the angle at which the weapon was aimed. This design was eventually adopted by Europeans for use with firearms such as pistols and rifles. The first known use of gunswivels in battle occurred in 1493 during the Battle of Lepanto, when Ottoman Turkish forces were attempting to blockade Venice. The Catholic Monarchs allied themselves with Venice against Ottoman Turkey, and using their artillery advantage over the Turks, fought a successful campaign against them. This event is often considered one of the greatest naval battles in history. Over time, other countries also began to adoption gunswivels into their armies. In 1875, Austria-Hungary began using them in their army after seeing how effective they were used by Russian troops during World War I. France also started using them shortly afterwards; however, they were not universally adopted until after World War II when they began being popularized as part of modern firearms designs. Today,gunswivels are still used extensively across many different industries including personal security devices such as professional security guards and homeguards; law enforcement officers; militaries;and even carmakers who use them on vehicles such as cars and trucks

Santa Ana was founded in 1795 by Spanish settlers who named it after the Saint Anthony of Padua. The city proper was founded in 1824 and became a part of California in 1850. Santa Ana is located on the San Joaquin River, about 36 miles northwest of Sacramento, and is bordered by Fresno to the north, Kern County to the east, Orange County to the south, and Los Angeles County to the west. The population of Santa Ana was 246,811 as of 2010. The first permanent Anglo-Spanish settlements were made along what is now Elmira Road and Broadway Avenue in present-day downtown Santa Ana. Mission Santa Clara de Asis (founded in 1795) was one of several missions established throughout California during Mission Period Governor Felipe de Neve’s efforts to proselytize among Native Americans. In 1821 secular priests from Ibadan arrived at Anza Barracks nearLOS ANGELES with instructions from Isidro Gomez to establish a missiontown at this location on an isolated bluff overlooking both rivers forutsaking Christianity among native peoples. The town functioned as a day-to-day center for goods brought overland by Indian traders before being abandoned in 1828 when gold discoveries began at Sutter’s Mill on Elsinore Creek nearby; all supplies had been sent overland since Father Junípero Serra had taken up residence at Presidio Santiago de Vergara three years earlier. In 1830 damage caused by a flood which destroyed much of downtown Santa Ana turned attention toward developing new sources of water supply for cities growing around San Diego and San Francisco; Albuquerque engineer Manuel Fontana filed a patent application for an artificial river or tunnel across San Joaquin Valley called “Los Rios del Angel” on March 6th, 1830. On October 15th Mexican authorities announced that they would grant United States citizenship to all Californians under US law including those living within Mexico City limits; this set off a series of events that led to Mexican independence from Spain on November 29th1831 A group including members of militia company #27 sawed down the old adobe wall surrounding el Capitolio (the old statehouse) inside La Purísima Concepción Church Complex—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—on December 12th1831 initiating what has come be called “The Day Of The Bridge” event leading up to Mexican independence; this event is also considered marking the beginning of American annexationism over Mexico On January 7th1835 Governor José Figueroa signed legislation creating Alta California Battalion Corps consisting primarily– but not limited thereto–of military men recruited from Los Angeles County only Alta California Battalion Corps officially became known as “Santa Anna's Army” fortuitously enough due to then Lieutenant Colonel Antonio López de Santa Anna's early promotion through superior performance while commanding Alta Californiana Regiment #1 during February 22nd 1836 siege and ensuing Battle Of Cholula wherein more than 20 thousand Mexicans perished . As part of Operation Neptune's Spear against Modoc Indians –partnered with fellow Californian General José Castro commandeering volunteer infantrymen from Nevada Territory under LtCol John Custer—-General Bernardo García arrived northeastward via way station Yuma about 9000 feet above Mono Lake on May 14th1847 with orders thenceforth direct operations against Modoc Tribe rather than through subordinate commanders responsible for individual engagements thereby eliminating any possibility for disorder or confusion . Garcia subsequently ordered his brigade composed entirely – excepting cavalry units commanded by Brigadier General José Guerra Vizcaino–of Volunteer Infantry companies organized into battalionsized commands each commanded by lieutenant colonel or captain general commanding troops deployed singly or in detachments covering ground twenty miles wide excepting very narrow areas surrounded by mountains where troops were quartered under separate commandos divided equally between two mountain ranges without artillery support ) From Yuma he marched southeastward via route crossedjust southwest/northwest Ferry Crossing Over Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mountains most favorably situated belowsome high mountains forming east bank thereofbelowriver valley floor parallel with its course generally northeasterly trending westerly until crossing its eastern bank nearpresent day Edwardsville where Brigade Headquarters Detachment camped until order reached column moving thence easterly following Black Hills escarpment paralleling said Escarpment until reaching mouth Of Little Colorado River about seven miles upstream from present day White Sands National Monument
In 1821, the first Mexican settlement was established in what is now Santa Ana. In 1846, after Mexico's defeat in the Mexican-American War, General Antonio L. Gomez ordered all Mexicans out of California and into Mexico. Many of these people fled to Southern California and founded new communities such as Anaheim and Huntington Beach.
