Bullets have been a part of Santa Ana, California’s history for over 100 years. The first firearms in the area were shotguns and pistols. The first rifles were built in 1853 by Captain John C. Fremont, who was then the sheriff of Los Angeles County. By 1865, there were twelve rifle companies in Santa Ana with a total of seventy-six men. However, it wasn’t until 1899 that the city incorporation was granted to Santa Ana by an act of the state legislature. This gave Santa Ana city rights and responsibility to manage its own police department and fire departments as well as establish its own statutes and regulations. The first handguns were also included in this early history. In 1871, a shop called “Goode & Goode Arms” was opened in downtown Santa Ana by James Goode and Isaac Goode. From here, they manufactured handguns for local law enforcement officers and civilians alike. These early handguns remained popular until 1903 when World War I started and demand for new weapons grew exponentially due to the war effort. As a result, Goode & Goode went out of business and all handgun manufacturing stopped temporarily within six months! In 1903 however, things began to change again when Jens Forchhammer founded Forchhammer Firearms Corporation which would become one of the most successful gun companies in America during the 1920s through 1930s! His company produced assault rifles (the MP5A1), machine guns (the M1 Garand), pistols (the Colt 1911) as well as shotguns (the 12 gauge pump shotgun). In addition to his production capabilities at Forchhammer Firearms Corporation, Jens Forchhammer also became known for his marketing skills which helped him sell his products around the world! Today, Forchhammer Firearms Corporation is still active with continuing production capabilities along with saleskell services throughout North America!

On December 12, 1850, they made an Agreement under which they agreed to establish a Village at Second and Mission Streets as their future seat. The first post office in Santa Ana opened on January 5th, 1851. The name of the town changed from Villa Rica del Rey (The Royal Villa) toSanta Ana on February 3rd, 1865 after it became part of Orange County.

The first Europeans to visit what is now Santa Ana were French traders who landed on Christmas Day 1769. They named their settlement La Jolla because Spanish soldiers stationed there had collected rocks for building churches along Mission Bay near San Diego. In 1821, Don José de Alvarado became governor of Mexico and ordered his rancho (land grant) called Rancho Viejo granted to Juan Crespí, an American soldier and Mexican citizen who had deserted from Captain Kidd's ship during the gold Rush in 1824. This land grant included parts of what are now Anaheim, Garden Grove and Irvine. In 1828, Governor Alvarado re-granted Rancho Viejo to Abner Costilla y Uribe, who founded Mission Santa Paula de Alcala on present day State College Boulevard adjacent to Los Angeles Harbor but part of what would become Anaheim proper including Anaheim Hills and much of today's Glendale neighborhood were undeveloped agricultural land owned by Mission Santa Paula de Alcala or its successors up until about 1870 when development began with construction of new roads, water reservoirs and other infrastructure as well as commercial businesses that led to formation of various neighborhoods within what are today downtowns such as Riverside Park/University Avenue NE, Midtown West/Bronson Ave., Highland Square/ Vermont Ave., Crenshaw Plaza/ Western Ave., Victory Gardens/ Ontario Ave./ Newport Beach Blvd.).
