In 1937 when Contra Costa County was created from portions of Marin County and Alameda County bothilies were established as well as parts (but not all)of Southern Santa Clara Valley including SanRamon valley! That same year also saw enactment through legislature by Governor Earl Warren (D-Calif.) giving all citizens within county limits automatic registration for voting beginning January 1st 1938!! In 1942 during World War II and following recommendations from Sheriff Don Baca (D-Calif.), Mayor John Lomas enacted legislation creating civic services districts within the borders of each municipality providing social welfare programs such as unemployment insurance assessors/collectors; fire service; water supply; streetlights; trash collection etc... throughout the entire unincorporated areas within municipal boundaries!! These municipally administrated functions continued until 1991 when they were transferred fully into county responsibility!!!!! All these various changes have led to what we see today!!! A rapidly growing & vibrant community characterized by strong demographics - high quality schools – excellent infrastructure including wide variety & quality roads – parks – easy access to jobs & other activities – diverse cultural experiences available !!
