Gun magazines have a long and varied history in San Ramon, California. In 1892, San Ramon began to become agun town after the incorporation of the city of San Ramon. The first gun store in town was opened by Wm. Fenton in 1892. In 1897, Johnnie Cochran and Harry Hendershot opened the first hardware store in San Ramon. In 1898, three brothers started a grocery store at Seventh and Harrison Streets called The Gents Pharmacy and Meat Market. The Gents Pharmacy closed in 1902 but the meat market continued operation until 1903 when it was replaced by the Mrs. Bemis Hardware Store which remain open to this day. In 1904, Johnnie Cochran's brother-in-law J P Beeson bought the business from Harry Hendershot and reopened it as Beeson's Grocery Store Incorporated with Kapp as its first president. In 1912, Beeson sold his interest in the store to Julius Weinreb who became its third president. In 1916, Lillian Weisman became president and held that position until her death in 1934; then Aurelio Gomez became president until his retirement in 1942 which ended Prohibition of Alcohol within California effective December 15th of that year In 1934, Edna Warfield became president; she served until her death on October 14th 1946.; then Milton Bradley assumed presidency pending appointment of an interim directorate; he resigned on November 3rd 1947 upon being elected Mayor of San Francisco Milton Bradley served as interim President for two years before being appointed Director General effective January 1st 1948 The current directors are: Donny Hathaway (Director General), Alvaro Garcia (President), Geoffrey Skelton (Vice President)
