San Ramon is an incorporated city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 64,218 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Francisco–Oakland metropolitan area. The name "San Ramon" means "place of refuge." The first European to visit this location was Gaspar de Portolà in 1769, and he named it Mantua because of its natural fortress-like appearance. In 1821 a group of American soldiers under General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo defeated Mexican forces at the Battle of San Ramon Creek, thus becoming United States citizens and establishing control over this portion of California. The Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) was founded by Father José Antonio Ortega on May 24, 1836 on land that had been given to him by Governor Manuel Micheltorena as a reward for his successful defense of Alta California during the Mexican Revolution. Father Ortega named the mission after St. Francis Xavier who had travelled through this area on several occasions previous year. After years of construction and fundraising both within and outside of San Francisco Bay Area, the first building were completed in 1840 and served as our parish church until 1863 when we moved across Market Street into our current site south of Highway 101 near Alma Mater College campus. In 1846 our founder's great grandson Don Carlos Ortega took up arms against Mexico in what became known as the Californio Rebellion which ended with his death at Buena Vista Hill from wounds received while fighting beside General Scott against Napa Valley Mexicans led by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman y Sánchez on October 20, 1846. During World War II many workers came to work here including those who built Naval Air Station Livermore which opened in 1943 located just eastside off I-680 about 10 miles northeast or so from downtown San Ramon! Today many people still know about that time period hereabouts! And if you're lucky enough to actually be born anywhere near Livermore during that span then congratulations cause you've got some seriously genetic ancestry going on there!!! All kidding aside however there are some serious real world consequences to all this development now don't forget that old namesake Rancho Santa Fe also lies just eastside off I-680 adjacent to NAS Livermore too so keep an eye out for that one folks! With rapid population growth following World War II (and ensuing anti-immigrant sentiment), local officials began discussions about annexation into neighboring cities such as Oakland or Hayward but no action was taken until 1962 when City Manager Arturo Barros recommended annexation due to economic reasons associated with growing agricultural productioncited especially dairy farming operations along with increased commuting distances between downtowns in Emeryville and rural areas around town center causing deterioration in infrastructure; primarily arterial streets were left without maintenance leading to high traffic congestion caused by increasing numbers influxes/outflows from small towns surrounding central san ramon; annexation would provide more affordable housing opportunities for low income residents while increasing police patrols and firefighting resources available should problems arise; formal annexation applications were filed with Contra Costa County Board Of Supervisors on January 15th 1960 but no decision was made prior thereto due to lack anticipation or knowledge regarding comprehensive study results resultant from civil rights petition filed earlier that same year seeking reversal – resulting referendum failed November 5th 1960). In 1966 redevelopment efforts picked up steam spurred largely by new suburban developments established nearby eastern Contra Costa County including Hercules Aircraft Company Park & Ride Facility immediately adjacent Interstate 680 sprawled across 8 acres undeveloped formerly Agricultural Land situated eastside off undefended US Highway 101 Kiewit Boulevard—just minutes away from downtownSAN RAMON—but despite initial enthusiasm had little impact beyond inconvenience caused large number vehicles traveling down Kiewit Boulevard entering & exiting downtown SAN RAMON everyday exacerbating gridlock issues resulting primarily from large volume northbound drivers usingsouthbound I-680 exit ramp endeavouring unsuccessfully to avoid high school football game being played simultaneously

In 1976, both wineries merged into one company: Chardonnay & Brunello d'Oro NV. Today, many local restaurants serve CAW wines as well as other types of alcoholic beverages such as sparkling water or beer
The city of San Ramon, California was founded on November 20th, 1847 by James C. Richardson and his brothers. The city was originally named Spanish Town because the original settlers were from Spain. The name was changed to San Ramon in 1850, after a donation from the Ramirez family. In 1872, San Ramon became part of the City of Oakland and then the City of Berkeley. In 1965, San Ramon became part of the Bay Area and is now located in Northern California within Contra Costa County.
