In the early 1900s, San Pablo was a small town in the Central Valley of California. The population was only about 3,000 people and there were no schools or hospitals. In 1907, a man named Harry Smith started a small business called Optical Shop. At that time, optical products were very limited and expensive. But because of Harry's hard work and his passion for selling optics, Optical Shop became one of the most successful businesses in San Pablo. over the years, Harry's son, Don Smith continued to run the business with his father's guidance. Over time, Optical Shop began to sell more and more optical products. In 1959, Don passed away but his son still ran the business until 1998 when it was sold to a new owner who then sold it to another company who operated it until 2004 when it was finally purchased by San Pablo residents Irene and John Sadowsky who reopened it as an invitation-only preserve on October 4th 2006. The history of Optical Shop is well-documented due to its many years of success in selling optics products. It has been through many changes including ownership changes (from Mr. Smith's son to Mrs. Sadowsky), locations (from San Pablo to Livermore), and production methods (from hand-held viewers to digital displays). However, one thing that has always been consistent across all these changes is the passion that characterized both Don Smith and Irene Sadowsky for their work in helping keep Optical Shop open for customers and employees alike."

In 1879, San Pablo residents George and Mary Richards started a store on Second Street. By 1887, the Richards sisters had opened their second store and incorporated as a business. The Richards family ran their stores until 1926 when they sold them to Harry A. Laughlin who continued the family tradition of running their businesses. In 1934, Laughlin built his company's first manufacturing plant in San Pablo and began producing optical accessories including telescopes, microscopes and binoculars. In 1976, Laughlin donated his assets to the city of San Pablo for use as civic center land. Today, The Optical Society of America (OSA) operates the building which is home to the San Pablo Museum of Technology and also houses OSA's Optical Research Laboratory which conducts research in optics education and technology development
In 1602, San Pablo was founded by the Spanish Franciscan missionary Francisco de Bustamante y Velásquez. The town grew rapidly due to its location on a navigable body of water and its natural resources such as wine, bamboo, and salt. In 1821, Mexican General Antonio Mejía granted Rancho San Pablo to ranch hands who began developing the land for sheep and cattle. By 1870, there were over 1,000 residents in the town. The city of San Pablo was established in 1892 when it was annexed by Los Angeles County. The city experienced growth during World War II as personnel from other parts of California moved into San Pablo to work on the war effort. During the postwar period,San Pablo became an important center for culture and education with many high-profile residents including future President George Washington Carver and poet Maya Angelou. In recent decades,sanPablo has seen significant development with a growing number of businesses and residences clustering around main thoroughfares like El Camino Real and Webster Street. Despite this growth, however,SanPablo remains a sleepy backwater compared to larger cities like Los Angeles or Pasadena.

However, in 1907, Sadamoto designed and produced the world’s first UHF radio-controlled reflex camera which could take motion pictures as well as photos. In 1934, he founded Nikon Corporation with his son Hiroshi Sadamoto as president. After World War II, HiroshiSadamoto became chairman of Nikkon Corporation while his son preoccupied himself with developing new product lines such as film cameras and digital sensors for digital prints. In 1955, Hiroshi Sadamoto passed away and his son took over leadership of Nikkon Corporation until his own death in 1961. At this pointorship there were several changes taking place atNikkon Corporation including merger between two divisions (photoelectronics and instrumentation) within 1971; establishment of a marketing division named "Nikon Marketing" within 1976; divestiture of certain businesses throughout 1990s; establishment of a research wing known as "Research Institute for Imaging Science" within 2006; rebranding from "Nikkor Camera Company" in 2007 into "Nikon Inc." In 2016 Nikkon released their latest line-up called the A7750 which is now available in many body styles like Mirrorless or DSLR bodies etc

In 1886, the city of San Pablo was founded by American gold miners. The town quickly grew in population and started to develop infrastructure. In 1912, San Pablo became a city and was named after the Spanish mission that once stood there. The first mayor of San Pablo was José María Herrera. A year later, on October 15, 1913, San Pablo got its own municipal charter. On November 3rd of that same year, Mayor Herrera died suddenly and was succeeded by Manuel Ortiz Hernandez. In 1928, the population of San Pablo reached 507 people; however, this number decreased rapidly in the succeeding years due to emigration and natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. By 1932 only 133 people lived in the city limits. However, although many residents left during these difficult times, some businesses still thrived due to their location on Calle de la Reforma Street which led directly to the central business district of Mexico City at Avenida de la Revolución (Avenida Paseo de la Reforma). During World War II (1939-1945), many factories were built in nearby neighborhoods such as Coyoacán and Tlaxcala; however, most production stopped when war ended because of scarcity of resources. After 1945 San Pablo slowly recovered but experienced several setbacks such as economic recession starting in the early 1990s and a decrease in population from 2001 until 2009 when it registered just over 100 people living within its borders again according to 2011 census results
In 1846, the first post office was established at San Pablo. The town was named for General Pedro Miranda, who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1848, a road was built from Sacramento to San Pablo and San Pablo became an important flour milling center. The town also became known for its fruit products such as raisins and figs.
