In 1875, Chris Mann started making rifle rounds using an alloy of lead and copper that caused less recoil than other types of ammunition available at the time. This new ammo was called “San Pablo” rounds because it was manufactured near San Pablo Creek in eastern Contra Costa County, California. These rounds quickly become very popular due to their low recoil and ability to penetrate many targets at close range

The City of San Pablo is located in the eastern part of California and it is bordered by Contra Costa County to the east, Alameda County to the north, Marin County to the northwest, and San Francisco Bay to the south. The population was 514,827 as of 2018. The city is named after Saint Pablo, who was martyred in a religious trial in Spain in 1521. The first European settlement in what would become San Pablo was made by Spanish colonists on July 24, 1795 when they founded a small fort at what is now known as Point Reyes Station. After years of exploration and development, San Pablo became an independent city on January 20th 1853. In 1916, San Pablo annexed part of Richmond Heights which had been purchased by John D’Angelo with money from his father-in-law Augustus Earle Potter. This annexation created a new municipality that included some of Contra Costa County’s most affluent neighborhoods such as Lafayette Heights and Pacific Heights. On November 8th 1978 voters approved Measure A which designatedSan Pablo into an urban area within the newly formed Bay Area Regional District (BARD). On December 4th 1990 BART opened its new stations at MacArthur Park and Ferry Terminal which significantly increased ridership throughout much of the eastern portion of BART’s network making it easier for people to get around without having to transfer between trains or buses

San Pablo is a small town in the County of San Francisco, California. It has a population of about 8,000 people as of the 2010 census. The name "San Pablo" is Spanish for "Saint Paul." The first Europeans to visit what is now San Pablo were Portuguese sailors in 1542. A mission was established here in 1795 by Father José de Arguelles. The Mission Dolores was designed to serve the local Native American community and had an extensive library and classrooms as well as a convent. The mission was destroyed by fire in 1825 and its buildings were replaced with a Presbyterian church, which still stands today. In 1851, after gold had been found at Comayagua Springs, San Pablo became one of the few towns in California that received federal recognition from President Ulysses S. Grant because it lay within boundaries set by Mexico for Gold Rush towns like Yreka and Napa Valley. In 1853-1854, large quantities of gold were discovered at Sutro Mesa but no mines were developed there until 1865 when mining began on Monterey Peak near modern-day Gilroy. The post office moved to San Pablo from Dublin on July 1st 1860 (the old Post Office building still stands), and soon started receiving letters from all over Northern California including Boise City where my father served his RN service during World War II! The morning I arrived home Aug 9 1960 I mailed my draft card off to Sausalito just prior to induction into the US Naval Reserve! Today’s mail box can be seen out front across Polk Street from our old schoolhouse!

The mission, established by Father Junípero Serra, was one of the most important churches in California. The friars started building a convent on the site in 1821, and the colony grew quickly. In 1848, San Pablo became part of Mexico after it lost its independence from Spain. After Mexican rule ended, the United States took over San Pablo and renamed it Fort Point after General James K. Polk.
