San Juan Capistrano is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 757 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The site of what is now San Juan Capistrano was first proposed for Mission San José de las Californias on October 25, 1769 by Father Junípero Serra and fellow priest and explorer Gaspar de Portolà. The new mission would be located on an existing rancheria (farmstead) about 4  miles east of present-day downtown San Juan Capistrano. However, due to its location near missions Presidio and Mission Dolores, the mission failed to take off and was abandoned in 1824. Father Francisco Palouzar authored a pastoral letter dated November 5, 1827 recommending that a chapel be built in honor of Our Lady of Calvary should it become vacant at Mission San José de las Californias following the death of Father Junípero Serra three months earlier. Pope Gregory XVI approved the idea on December 12th, 1827 and construction began soon after with funds provided by Englishman Samuel Morse who donated $5,000 towards the project. The first Mass took place on March 6th, 1830 inside the church walls as plantains were put up to shade the new building’s interior during wintertime. On July 10th 1840 Don Jose Gomez married Maria Antonietta Ortega y Gasset at Our Lady's Chapel inside Church Street Station before 8500 people from throughout Orange County including 1500 children who had come from Mexico City for mass baptism under Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla presided over by Bishop Manuel Nieto; this event marks one of many religious conversions in Southern California during Mexican rule which also included Pueblo del Rio Grande on January 6th 1840 when Padre Fernando Rivera converts 600 families from Zuni Indians living there; these events helped spur immigration into California which increased land acreage under American occupation from 2% to almost 20%. In 1860 John Wesley Powell became Director General of Patrulla Civil while working out trade agreements with Mexican officials in Sonora; upon his return to America he recommended that Missions Santa Clara and Nuestra Señora Concepción be closed because they were not being used anymore as agricultural or industrial sites but should instead serve as “a model schoolhouse for young boys” however this recommendation was not followed through upon despite protests from Governor Gabriel García Márquez who claimed that “A model schoolhouse is precisely what our Fathers need if they are going to continue their work among these heathen savages” accordingly both missions remained open until 1959 when they were closed due to lack of students & use as military barracks etc.. . . . . In 1912 Don Carlos Herrera donated land adjacent to Church Street Station for a public park which eventually became known as College Park today! Today there are several businesses located within walking distance including Walmart Supercenter (just west of I-10 exit), Applebee's restaurants (southwest corner lot next door), Costco (east side lot next door), Promenade Mall (northwest corner lot just west of I-10 exit) & several small churches such as St James Episcopal Cathedral (southwest corner lot across street from Promenade Mall) all within easy driving distance! In 1906 Supervisor Julius Rosenwald purchased approximately 1/4 mile north along Church Street from citrus grower Edwin "Ed" Reyes for $1 per acre giving rise to nearby shopping areas such as Fashion Valley Shopping Center & JB Hiersonian Department store now known as Macy's Incorporated - See website www2www249comfor map). On July 15th 1907 Rosenwald dedicated crosswalk at current day intersection OFriar Drive & ChurchStreet between himself & future Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa making this area later called Claremont Avenue where today most residents live including Historic Japanese American Community Diana Honda House Museum established in 1994 housing artifacts related thereto). Many businesses have been developed since then including: HP Pavilion laptop factory campus Store #1 just south off I-10 exit ramp heading east opposite downtown Claremont Ave., Starwood Hotels Worldwide complex situated immediately north across busy Main Street arterial road consistant with designs submitted by architects Peter David Shaw Associates LLC (& subsequent projects developed therewith)...many moreto come! There is no one answer to this question, as the history of T-shirts with firearms on them varies greatly. However, some general trends can be observed. The first human settlement in San Juan Capistrano was made by Father Junipero Serra on December 17, 1769. In 1821, the area became part of Mexico and was not annexation until 1912. The town's name is derive from a mission that was founded here in 1821 by Father José Gomez. From this mission, the town took its name: San Miguel de Allende. In 1862, following the American Civil War, Mexican general Agustín Valdez burned down most of Allende for supporting the Union side. A small group of Californians fighting for the Confederacy went into hiding in Allende and eventually emerged as settlers called "Los Rancheros". They were able to rebuild and continue farming their land around what is now downtown San Juan Capistrano. During World War II, San Juan Capistrano played a key role in America's "Battle of Guadalcanal" as a staging ground for marine units that fought in the war against Japan. The Japanese destroyed many homes and businesses here during their campaign to take over New Guinea and other parts of Southeast Asia.
