The history of San Jacinto starts with its founding as an Indian settlement on October 27, 1795 by Father Francisco Garza y Becerra. At that time there were only about 20 people living hereabouts including 15 Europeans and 5 Native Americans. By 1800 there were over 200 people living hereabouts including 120 Europeans and 30 Native Americans who had come from various parts of Mexico City along with some refugees from other American wars such as the Revolution in North America which had ended two years earlier than expected. It should be noted that while most early Mexicans came from central Mexico City they also received help from members of Spanish nobility located near Acapulco who acted as intermediaries between themselves and their old friend James Kenedy (alias Don José Garza) who lived northward on Monterey Peninsula (now Orange County). The Ar15 upper receiver was designed in the early 1990s as a more affordable option for rifle owners wishing to buy one. The original model had a 15" barrel and featured an A3-style cocking handle. It was not well-received by users, and production ceased in 2001.
In 1795, the Mexican government granted Rancho San Jacinto to Juan Bautista de Anza. The grant was for 640 acres of land that included what is now San Jacinto City. In 1821, Mexico ceded this area to the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. A year later, in 1822, President James K. Polk ordered General Zachary Taylor to take possession of San Jacinto and give it to the United States as a gift from Mexico. On July 6, 1824, General Taylor took possession and founded Independence Hall on what is now US 1 just south of Mission Peak. The town was named after Spanish general Santa Anna's victory over Mexican forces at Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. The community grew rapidly due to its location on a crossing point over the Colorado River and its access to water resources. By 1850, there were over 100 people living in San Jacinto Captain John Waddell Post Office Records show that post office operations began on February 20th, 1850., by which time the name had been changed from Pueblo del Rio Grande (Rancho Grande) toSan Jacinto! The first postmaster was Hiram Powers who served for one year before resigning because he did not like the new name! The town experienced another growth spurt during prohibition years from 1920-1928 when bootlegging became an important economic activity in San Jacinto! In 1928-1929 an afternoon movie production company called Republic Pictures filmed "A Fistful Of Dollars" at Empire Ranch near present day I-5 and Pan American Highway east of downtown San Jacanto proper! That same year also saw construction begin on US 281/I-5 east of downtown which would become known asMission Freeway when it opened in 1931! On December 15th 1930 local Mayor Manuel Gomez placed a proposition on the ballot proposing annexation by Ermita Village which passed with 66% support!!! On January 3rd 1932 Mayor Gomez announced that annexation had been approved!!! There were several protest meetings held throughout 1933 but nothing materialized until 1934 when incorporation papers were filed with the County Recorder’s Department!!!! It didn't take long for word to spread about how much easier it would be for citizens to get government services if they simply incorporation into one entity!!!!!!!!!!!!! On April 10th 1935 incorporation papers were finally filed with county recorder’s office after many delays caused by expensive legal challenges!!! Today we have a thriving business district complete with high technology companies such as Intel and AMD; multiple hospitals including Kaiser Permanente Medical Center; numerous schools including two universities; five shopping malls plus three major parks including Mission Peak State Park!!!!!!!!!!!!!
