The first rifles were made in San Gabriel, California in 1876. The rifle series was started by Capt. John A. Beale and his men of the 3rd Battalion, Los Angeles Volunteers. This rifle was called the "Beale Rifle."
San Gabriel Valley is a small, agricultural community located in the Angeles National Forest. The valley was first settled by Ohlone people in the late eighteenth century. The name "San Gabriel" is derived from the Channel Islands of California and they called it San-Gabe or San-Gabriel. In 1821, José Antonio Garza donated land to establish a Mission San Bernardino de la Encina (the present day Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels). In 1824, two missions were established in what is now the Vallejo section of San Gabriel Valley: Nuestra Señora del Rosario and Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes. The mission system was gradually abandoned due to opposition from Native American groups and constant skirmishes with them. In 1869, when Mexico gained independence from Spanish America, Mission Santa Ana became part of Mexican territory. However, because the missions had been run by Franciscans under Spanish rule for centuries, some elements of the Indian population continued to support their old church hierarchy and maintain relationships with their traditional religious leaders. As a result, on December 12th 1870 Mexican soldiers invaded Santa Anita Mountains and burned down the mission buildings; this event is considered one of Mexico's most dramatic moments in history. In 1881, two years after Villa took control of Mexico City and announced his candidacy for president on September 20th that year,[1], General Enrique Peña Nieto moved 1 million Mexicans from southcentral Guerrero into five counties along East Central Los Angeles County—Anaheim Hills, Baldwin Park/Fremont Heights/Livermore Hills/Mission Viejo (the so-called Miracle Mile), Oxnard (now Van Nuys) and El Monte—in order to create new municipalities that would be more ethnically homogeneous politically.[2] One purpose behind this move was to improve public transportation between these new municipalities as well as serve as an artificial demographic nucleus around which future city growth could take place[3]. However, while much has changed since then in terms of demographics,[4][5] there have been few changes in economic conditions within these villages nor has social stability persisted over time outside influences such as crime rates or education levels; instead young adults often leave for better opportunities outside these villages.[6][7] The following are brief descriptions about each village: Anaheim Hills: Home to over 30% Asians according to 2010 census data[8], Anaheim Hills experienced rapid development during its early days as a result of its location within close proximity to Los Angeles County’s largest city[9], Hollywood Boulevard,[10] Universal Studios Hollywood,[11] and other major entertainment centers at that time[12]. Today many residents work inside or near Disneyland or Walt Disney World although there are still some who commute out for jobs elsewhere[13]. The HH Village Association tries hard keep things clean but sometimes there can be problems with drugs being sold on property & kids getting into fights here daily! Baldwin Park/Fremont Heights/Livermore Hills/Mission Viejo: This area once consisted mostlyof agricultural land but thanks to annexation by Orange County & easy accessto freeway east bound traffic it developed rapidly into one of Anaheim’s most popular areas[] [] [] [] [] [][] Elmwood Village got annexed too so now you have 2 different types OF housing here!!! Grocery stores usually open at 7am & Close at 10pm so don't expect much night life either :( Also beware if you're driving through this area your headlights will turn off constantly! San Gabriel is a small town in Los Angeles County, California. It was founded by Spanish settlers in 1847 and incorporated as a city on July 1, 1907. The population was 132 at the 2010 census. San Gabriel is located east of downtown Los Angeles and north of Pasadena. The first permanent residents of what would become San Gabriel were Sephardic Jews who came to Southern California during the Gold Rush in 1848. They began farming land aroundpresent-day San Gabriel Valley before moving to larger parcels in 1875, when they formed the Mosaic Congregation of Western California with five other Jewish families from eastern Texas. The community prospered because it had access to good water and soil, and its founders were able to build civic amenities such as a school, synagogue, library, and fire station. In 1906 the city annexed part of neighboring Lynwood which had been hit hard by crippling drought caused by natural disasters like earthquakes and fires; Lynwood's mayor at the time said that annexation solved "the problem of how two towns can live together without getting into trouble." Over time though annexation became more complicated due to disagreements over boundaries between Lynwood's white citizens and black citizens (ultimately resolved through court action), geography (Lynwood sits on an economically valuable hilltop location withinEast Los Angeles), zoning laws (which favored single family homes over apartments), land speculation (a result of surrounding ranching?), boundary changes due to population growth (the1920s saw substantial population growth in East Lynwood),and increasing political power wielded by Ingraham Park district merchants over whites living within their borders—all factors that have contributed to continued tension between both towns today. The first post WWII period saw increased immigration from Mexico as well as Asian immigrants coming through Chinatown; this led to interaction among the various communities that would characterize future San Gabriel politics: Chinese-owned businesses thrived while African Americans worked for lower paying jobs outside of town limits; Latinos started sending their children out into
The first European to arrive in San Gabriel Valley was the Friars Minor, who established a mission in 1795. The Mission of San Gabriel took over from the Mission Santa Catalina in 1821. In 1847, the United States acquired California and renamed it Northern California. The area now known as Southern California became part of the new state of Mexico after Mexican independence from Spain in 1821. In 1850, Los Angeles County was created from parts of Ventura County and Orange County. The city of Los Angeles was founded on October 15, 1853, by John Sutter and his brother-in-law George Hearst.
