The history of gun targets in San Gabriel, California can be traced back to the early 1800s. Prior to this time, guns were used for hunting and target practice by local residents. One of the earliest firearms that was used for target shooting in San Gabriel was a rifle known as the “ Peacemaker.” This rifle was made in 1827 and consisted of a stock made from hickory tree, a barrel about 16 inches long, and two triggers. The Peacemaker was very accurate, able to hit targets at 100 yards with ease. In 1853, an armorer named Jesse James built a Target Rifle located on Government Street in downtown San Gabriel. This facility became famous for its high quality cannons that could shoot up to 200 feet away. The Targetsprovided excellent training opportunities for local militia and law enforcement officers. The Targets also served as social clubs for citizens of the town. In 1902, gun manufacturer John Moses Browning decided to move his manufacturing operations from Louisville Kentucky to San Gabriel California because of the increasing demand for their products statewide. Browning’s new factory consisted of three buildings: one structure housing the assembly line; another building producing shotguns; and finally, a large shooting range providing ample space for practicing with rifles and pistols. In 1937,browning began production of what would become known as the Browning BAR (or air-rifle). At first glance, these rifles appeared harmless enough – they were just standard-issue handguns at the time. However, when fired off live ammunition at close range – such as during hunting activities – it could be extremely deadly! Browning quickly discovered that their BARs were especially effective against military objectives such as tanks or aircraft carriers! As a result of their success against armored vehicles and other enemy combatants alike –the BAR eventually became America’s most popular firearm by World War II!

San Gabriel is a small town in Los Angeles County, California. It is located on the east side of San Gabriel Mountains and has a population of about 41,000 as of the 2010 census. The fort served as an artillery installation until 1906 when it was abandoned due to its location on high ground overlooking downtown Los Angeles City limits and its vulnerability to attack from both sides of the city border. By 1880, there were over 1,500 people living in San Gabriel; many worked for ranchers or copper miners who used their land for agriculture or cattle ranching during the day while working outposts at night under cover of darkness. By 1890, however, only about 100 people still lived there full time; most had moved away during the late 1800s when single-crop farming became more prevalent throughout Southern California due to improved irrigation techniques brought over from Europe. During World War II (), much of downtown Los Angeles was destroyed by bombing raids carried out by American aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) based out of Long Beach Naval Base; one such raid resulted in the death of twenty-one civilians including five women and four children inside Mission Santa Catalina convent; all but two nuns escaped with minor injuries although several homes sustained damage beyond repair since no power could be restored once outside air conditioning systems arrived after fighter planes bombed targets within minutes following landfall). One surviving nun later wrote that "the feeling among us before [the raid] was one terrorized expectancy...We knew we would be annihilated if caught inside" even though "a kind Providence saved us".
