The postwar boom led to growth for both old-time residents such as those who had raised their families here since before Ventura County became part of Los Angeles County or those who’d arrived recently like architects, engineers and scientists whose work helped create modern American cities like Pasadena or Beverly Hills And finally there were newcomers – students coming to fill empty spaces created by factories moving out or being acquired by other companies – often young people fresh out of high school or even college when they found themselves living on their parents’ salaries while they looked for an opportunity “outside” California

During World War II much activity took place in and around downtown Pasadena because so many workers from nearby Los Angeles went into service during the war effort. One particular landmark associated with this time period is El Monte Airfield which housed American military planes used for bombing missions over Japan during World War II; these planes often crashed into adjacent hills near downtown Los Angeles causing extensive damage both below ground and aboveground (which can still be seen today).
