The Stun Gun was originally designed for use in law enforcement purposes however it can now be used by civilians as well. Its primary purpose is to disable someone so they can’t interfere with or harm other people or property.

In 1984, the U.S. Department of Justice reported that the number of electric shocks administered to suspects in America had increased tenfold since 1973. At the time, there was concern over use of tasers as a form of torturous punishment and as a form of public humiliation. In response to these concerns, Congress passed The Taser Act in 1985 which made it illegal to provide electrical shocks with intent to inflict pain or distress.
In 1769, Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portolà discovered San Diego Bay and its mineral wealth. At the time, it was one of the most important ports in California because of the abundance of naval resources. The first permanent residents were Mexican Missionaries who established a small town called El Cámara del Rey in 1821. By 1830, there were over 50 missions and churches in San Diego County. In 1846, following Mexico’s proclamation of independence from Spain, San Diego County became part of the United States as consequence of the Mexican-American War; this event is also celebrated as Californias Una Ley Day (1846). The Gold Rush started in 1848 and soon after many men and women boarded ships for what would be their only stop on their long journey to AMERICA. Many people settled around what is now downtownSanDiego. One such person was James Karkin who arrived on October 15th, 1850 with his family from Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. He founded Karkin & Sons Brewery which still exists today and makes beer that is distributed throughout North America including San Diego County!
In 1821, the Mission San Diego de Alcalá was founded in what is now downtown San Diego. In 1852, the first post office was established in the city. The California Legislature approved a bill to create a county on November 16, 1850, and San Diego County was formed on January 6, 1851. The first courthouse for San Diego County opened in 1856.
