San Clemente, California is a city located on the San Diego– Tijuana border in southern California. As of the 2010 census, its population was 83,927. The Port of San Francisco occupies much of the city's waterfront. The name "Clemente" comes from Santa Clara County and Clemente Island in Laguna Beach. The Mission San Francisco de Asís was founded in 1795 by Franciscan missionaries working with the Spanish crown. In 1821 it became part of Mexico and then United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo; it remained an American possession until 1959 when it became part of Mexico again. The mission has been visited by U.S presidents since independence from Spain: John Adams, James K Polk, Franklin D Roosevelt and Harry S Truman are all known to have stopped at its door. In 1853 entrepreneur Pio Pico began developing what would become downtown San Clemente; he named his new town after Bishop Miguel Angel de la Coma y Salinas, who had sponsored his colonization efforts in central Mexico during the Mexican Revolution (1810-1823). La Jolla Cove was first developed near where Pico now stands by wealthy Anglo entrepreneurs such as Commodore Perry and George Washington Irving; they built summer homes there over time but never reached a high enough population density to warrant their own town name. In 1909 developer Edward Condon bought rights to build a large naval base on Point Loma which would eventually be called Naval Air Station Miramar (see also Point Loma Naval Air Station). The station opened in 1912 and soon produced civilian planes for use around Los Angeles Harbor; before World War II it housed USS Hornet air stations at Lemuel Shattuck Field on Long Beach Boulevard east of Point Loma and North Island Drive on top of Mount Wilson within easy reach for pilots based out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) needed landing space aboard Navy carriers anchored offshore or docked at LAX for amphibious landings during wartime exercises off Southern California beaches (the so-called "Operation Neptune's Spear" exercises). This period saw major growth at Miramar as both military and civilian operations were combined under one roof with permanent structures including barracks, a dispensary, engine houses/ workshops/ Hangar 13A3(today Wright-Patterson AFB), control tower/ radio shack(today Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Facility – Monrovia), airfield taxiways/pron(now Edwards AFB), hangar plant(Today Boeing Phantom Works Facility – Hawthorne)) - all linked together via long concrete runways providing excellent views intoLOS ANGELES Harbor while providing reliable access to SAN DIEGO Harbour through numerous Channel Islands - making it one of largest naval airfields west OF Japan*! *This aerial photo taken circa 1958 shows Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company’s shipyards just south Of Redondo Beach
Scope mounts have been around for a long time and there are many different designs. Some of the more common mounts include bipods, turret bases, and bipod attachment points on rifles. The first scope mount was designed in 1909 by George Weiser and it used a two-piece system with an arm that held the scope and a base that attached to the rifle barrel. This system allowed for easy adjustment of the magnification while using the gun. In 1937, John Browning introduced his own design which used four arms that held the scope and four attachment points on the barrel. This system allowed for greater accuracy due to its double-layered construction. In 1949, Sanford Ivers introduced his Swift mount which was designed specifically for use with telescopic sights. The Swift mount consisted of a metal platform that connected to the barrel via a hinge mechanism and then hung from the rifle using two screws. This system allowed users to adjust magnification without having to remove their firearm from service. The Swift mount also became popular among military forces because it could be easily attached to various barrels including those made by Sturm Ruger Firearms Corporation. By 1960, all major firearms manufacturers had produced scopes mounts at some point in their history; however, there were still several variations remaining in use today such as bipods mounted on turrets or monopod attachments on rifles.

In 1823, American settlers arrived in what is now San Clemente from southern California looking for new land to explore after seeing reports that Mexico was offering large tracts of land along the coast if they would fight against Spanish forces at battle annuals known as 'the war for choice'. The first people to live in what is now San Clemente were fishermen who built their boatyards on Mule Point Peninsula which Today is also home to Saint Anselm University School Of Medicine & Health Sciences
