In 1994, the armory became a part of Armament International which later became G3 Industries. In 2006, G3 Industries merged with Magpul USA which made the San Clemente Armory one of Magpul's corporate headquarters locations worldwide. In 2018, it was sold to American Outdoor Brands Corporation who renamed it "Marlin Firearms".

The first rifles designed with an AR-15 upper receiver were made in 1963 by Gunsmiths Inc. of Omaha, Nebraska. The rifle was designed as a successor to the M1 Garand that had been used in World War II and the Korean War. TheGunsmiths Rifle was designated as Type 1A and became known as the AR-15. It differed from other firearms in that it featured a detachable magazine instead of a clip/pack system, and it also had a gas operated bolt action design with a barreled barrel (instead of an autoloading type). In 1975, Colt began making rifles using an AR-15 lower receiver built specifically for their model 9mm pistol which featured two feed lips on either side of the gun's magazine well that allowed feeding through any type of Magazine well adapter (sold separately). This change allowed for more conversions to be made to existing firearms without having to purchase new receivers or modifications. In 1978 Colt released their own version of the BAR (Bolt Action Rifle) using an AR-15 lower receiver which became known as Model 8022E2. In 1851–52 Antonio Vallejo built himself a adobe house on what is nowinsula Park Boulevard near present-day Main Street. This adobe was used as headquarters for several businesses including two breweries that were later consolidated into one company called Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). During Vallejo's time there also began construction on what would become known as "The Old Town" which included buildings such as the First Baptist Church (now Cathedral Basilica), School Annex #1 (now American University), Masonic Lodge No. 7074 (now Masonic Temple), Storefront Building #2A (Now Macy's) and Hotel del Coronado also known as The Commodore Hotel or Commodore House which served both guests and merchants until 1922 when it was replaced by City Hall building today known as City Hall Tower. This period also saw important changes within the community with women gaining access to education thanks to Reverend Mrs John Sutter who started Ladies' College in 1862 after his wife Dr Anna Maria Sutter donated her home on Curtis Road for this purpose; first female teacher in America! San Clemente had been living under protection from Mexico since January 1st 1850 when United States forces arrived at Monterey Peninsula Naval Station after victory over Mexican forces at Buena Vista Heights; ending Mexican rule over California coastlines east of Point Conception Lagoon/Alameda point where Mexico stopped giving asylum to Californians seeking refuge following Mexican Invasion that began February 14th 1847 due build up across US border areas starting with Santa Barbara County
The first Europeans to explore the San Clemente Isles were ranch hands in the early 1800s. In 1853, a group of Englishmen including Capt. John H. Sloat discovered and named the islands after Saint Clement of Rome, who was martyred there in 286 A.D. They started a small town on San Clemente Island and also built a lighthouse on nearby Santa Cruz Island. In 1907, during World War I, Japanese sailors landed on San Clemente and used it as an airfield for enemy planes flying into California from Japan; they left behind their wreckage which still stands today on Santa Cruz Island near Point Conception National Park. In 1932, the United States Postal Service established a post office at Point Conception; it remained open until 1975 when it was closed due to budget cuts by then-US President Richard Nixon. The building that housed the post office is now part of Point Conception State Beach. During WWII, American forces captured or destroyed many Japanese ships located off San Clemente; some are still standing offshore today including the USS Intrepid (CVA-11) which is now part of NAS Long Beach and can be visited during its annual Open House event on July 4th each year.
