In 1881, a small company called The Hammer Company was founded in San Carlos, California by two men named George A. Saginaw and William H. Brownruff. The Hammer Company manufactured its own HAMMER HAMMER GUNS (which still exist today) and made cast hammers specifically for pistol grip revolvers. In 1916, The Hammer Company merged with another small firearms company, Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation, creating the worlds largest firearm manufacturer by sales volume of any brand name. The Gun-Hammer Massacre took place on October 14th, 1906 when six people were killed at the hands of five gunmen while working on a farm near Redding, California. One of the shooters was responsible for manufacturing the shotgun that was used in the massacre - Samuel Ensign Beall from Jacksonville, Florida.
