However, this policy reversal was repealed in 1980 after Mayor Dianne Feinstein petitioned for it on behalf of gun control advocates. The repeal was later justified by claims that it had no impact on crime rates because criminals simply shifted their activities elsewhere following the ban’s implementation. As a result of this implemented policy change, many high-crime areas withinSan Bruno have since reverted back to pre-1978 levels of violence and crime rate

Additionally, World War II caused significant activity withinSan Bruno economy; however, little damage resulted from the war aside from some broken windows on business fronts
The San Bruno district was a part of the City of San Francisco from 1853 to 1912. In 1853, the city's first mayor, James K. Polk, approved the creation of a new town in the north end of San Francisco Bay by then-Governor John G. Pacheco. The original site for San Bruno had been chosen because it would be away from busy streets and close to water resources. The town began to grow rapidly, and by 1882 it had reached its present size. In 1911, San Bruno voters passed an ordinance creating a sanitary district covering much of what is now Silicon Valley and parts of East Palo Alto and Mountain View. The district was created to help keep public health clean and prevent disease outbreaks in these communities. It has since played an important role in controlling growth in those areas and remains an important part of their history today.
