In 1892, San Bruno residents voted to incorporate as a town. The following year the first holster was manufactured in the town. In 1916, sheriff John Ahern purchased a revolver from Wernher Koch of Germany and began making holsters for his deputies. In 1922, the California State Legislature passed Assembly Bill 2 which made it illegal to sell orimport any firearms without a license. This law led to the development of the revolver holster industry in San Bruno. The early handguns used standard 9 mm cartridges which were difficult to reload quickly enough so that an officer could fire more than one shot at a time while on duty. Holsters therefore had to be designed specifically for this purpose and were usually made out of leather with straps that fastened around the waistband or between the shoulder blades (a type ofWB). With prohibition in place, holster manufacturers turned their attention towards producing "plain" revolvers without any additional features such as triggers or sights; these were known as "situational pistols". This new approach allowed officers to carry more ammunition with them at all times and also allowed gun enthusiasts who wanted custom-made holsters (known as "mkIIIs") to purchase pre-made models with specific design features they desired. As production expanded rapidly into later decades, cowboy hats and other accessories became popularized and began obscuring sight lines when carryingholstermounted revolvers so these weapons became less visible from behind. By 1870, San Bruno had become a resort town with year-round swimming and bathing available. The town grew rapidly during the Gold Rush period of the 1800s, due to its rich Mineral Resources. In 1898, San Bruno became an incorporated city after being passed by voters on November 7th of that year.

It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area and its economy is based on technology and professional services. The first Europeans to visit what is now San Bruno were Spanish missionaries in 1769. They named it Rincon de las Aduanas because of a small waterfall near the town site. In 1847, the United States bought Rancho San Bruno from José Rafael Peralta for $1 million. The U.S. built a military post there in 1851 as part of General Mariano Vallejo's efforts to keep California open to American settlers. In 1868, five years after the U.S.' purchase of Rancho San Bruno, wealthy entrepreneur James Stern founded his own wine company here and named it Valley Wines & Spirits (later known as J&J Wine). At that time, most wine production in Northern California was done by men using horse-drawn wagons from Napa Valley with up to 12 barrels per day output; women did not participate until after World War II when automobiles became popular and started driving demand for wine production away from rural areas

The city of San Bruno was incorporated on November 15, 1847. It is named for Captain John B. Sanborn who fought in the Mexican-American War and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The city was originally part of Alameda County, California until it became a separate municipality on February 9, 1893.
