In 1868, San Bruno residents George H. Smith and his wife, Laura, decided to purchase a Winchester Repeating Arms Company revolver. They ordered the new gun at the nearby store of A.C. Beaumont & Sons. The gun was made in English-style but with a Pistol grip instead of the more common Rifle grip, which allowed people to carry it without having their hand come in contact with the stock or barrel

San Bruno, California is a city in Marin County, California, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula. The first Europeans to visit what is now San Bruno were two Spanish priests, Father Junípero Serra and Father Fernando Hurtado de Mendoza, on July 24 and 25, 1776. They named the area San Lorenzo because of its location near Mount Diablo. The mission of Santa Clara Mission was founded in 1797 by Franciscan missionaries from Point Reyes Station in Sonoma County and was completed in 1821. In 1853, part of Santa Clara parish was annexed to that of San Francisco; this made San Bruno part of the new City of San Francisco. In 1870 an Act of Congress created Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a naval base for shipbuilding and repair with facilities at Mare Island Navy Yard on shore east of town (later known as Hunters Point). With the completion of shipyards at Oakland Lake and Richmond Wharf north of town in 1901–1902 by J P Morgan & Company Limited (the renamed Saginaw Bay Corporation) under joint ownership between Morgan and Bay Area Rapid Transit ( BART), industry grew rapidly here; according to one report "at Mare Island work began on over 250 vessels during 1901". However World War II led to a decline in activity due to lack of naval ironclad ships; however a resurgence starting around 1978 led to many new shipyards being built here including one called Alameda Yards that builds container ships for US Maritime Commission's port at Alameda, CA. In 1984 Microsoft opened its first corporate office outside North America when it moved from Seattle to Palo Alto - jointly with Apple Inc., who had also relocated there from Cupertino - setting off an international rivalry over technological leadership which has only intensified since then. The move increased demand for housing close by but also caused traffic congestion around Half Moon Bay because muchOf Silicon Valley's high-end businesses are concentrated near high-traffic intersections like 101st Ave., Embarcadero Rd./Parkside Dr., Martin Luther King Jr Blvd./Washington St., Fremont St./Etheridge Rd., Santana Row/Willamette Ave., Hawthorne Blvd./Belmont Ave.... This exhibit helped start the development of electric lighting in many places around the world. San Bruno also hosted important political meetings and events during this time period. Some of these important meetings included a meeting between California governor Manuel Noriega and President James K Polk in 1849, a meeting between California state legislators John Pemberton and George Hearn in 1850, and a meeting between US president Franklin D Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1941. During World War II, San Bruno played an important role in helping develop military technology. In 1942, it was announced that General Electric would build a plant called “The Metallurgical Works” at San Bruno for producing heavy equipment for the war effort. This plant produced some of the most advanced military vehicles ever made including tanks and bombers. The plant helped to contribute to victory in both World Wars!
The city of San Bruno was founded in 1887 by John and Mary Ann APPLICATION, two entrepreneurs who had come to California from Ohio. The APPLICATION family ran a small mill in the town until it was destroyed by fire in 1895. In 1906, San Bruno became part of the City of San Francisco. In 1917, the city annexed the neighboring towns of Pacifica and Daly City. In 1951, San Bruno became an independent city when its boundaries were revised following the re-districting of California due to population growth. In July 2018, Mayor Ed Lee announced that he would not seek reelection after completing his second term with a record number of accomplishments including creating new jobs and increasing education spending.
