Gun magazines are a centuries-old tradition in San Bruno. The first gun mags were published in 1847, and today there are more than 100 different magazines in the city of San Bruno. The history of gun magazines can be traced back to the early days of firearms. In 1847, three men from San Francisco founded the Western Gun Shop, which published its first magazine, The Rifleman, on December 1st. At that time, guns were still mostly used for hunting and militias were largely responsible for maintaining local arsenals and stockpiling weapons. As ammunition became more plentiful and expensive, society turned to magazine publishers as a way to ensure that citizens had access to high-quality rounds at all times. By 1860, there were over 20 magazine companies operating across America. One of the most famousgun magazines of all time was The Sporting News, which was published from 1865-1914 by Hearst Corporation. Hearst’s ownership of The Sporting News allowed him to promote his own products directly to consumers; this led to some great innovations in rifle shooting such as using dummy rounds instead of live rounds in target practice (which made rifles much faster and easier To shoot), developing an automatic loader for shotguns (the loading dock now known as the “Hearst Machine Gun Museum”), and even creating his own typeface called “Hearst Type”. In 1969, The Sporting News merged with another well-known magazine company – Time–Life – forming what is now known as Sports Illustrated Media Incorporated (SI). In 1998 SI took over management of publishing duties from Conde Nast Publications Inc., which would later merge into Viacom Incorporated (now Paramount Communications). Today one third of all issues of Sports Illustrated are produced outside North America; it has been reported that SI may soon move its entire printing operation—including its iconic red newsstand—to India.[1]
Gun magazines are one of the most common items found in a gun owner's possession. A magazine is an enemy to criminals because it allows the thief to quickly acquire multiple rounds of ammunition, making it easier for them to shoot someone who is helpless and unaware. There are different types of magazines available on the market, but the three most popular types are IDPA-standard magazines, 12 gauge shotgun magazine, and 9mm pistol magazine. In 1892, the San Bruno Gun Club was formed. In 1895, it became the San Bruno Rifle and Pistol Club. In 1907, it became the San Francisco Bay Area Rifle and Pistol Association. In 1916, it became the California Rifle and Pistol Association.

There have been many other magazines throughout history but these are just some of the most famous ones.
In 1898, John Browning patented an invention that would change the way firearms were fired. The pistol-style rifle called the Browning Automatic Rifle was first manufactured by him in 1903. It became one of the most popular firearms in history and continues to be produced today.
The City of San Bruno is located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, about 30 miles south-southeast of San Francisco. The city was founded in 1849 by the teamsters who established a post office and named it after their patron saint, St. Bruno. In 1852, the post office moved to what is now downtown San Bruno and the name stuck. The city's first mayor was George W. Dixon and its first councilmember was John A. Macdonald. In 1892, when California became a state, San Bruno became part as one of its townships and it lost its charter as a city in 1912. However, it has continued to exist as an unincorporated community within the city limits since then with full governmental authority under Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations (Regulations). The history of San Bruno goes back even further than that - it has been home to Native Americans for over 10,000 years! The Pomo people were among the first residents hereabouts around 900 AD and they continue to live here today in small communities scattered throughout various parts of central California. By 1800 AD there were already more than 20 villages located within what is nowSan Bruno County - all serving agriculture or other economic purposes; however, only four remain today: Russians Hill Village (now Vacaville), Glen Ellen/Oak Grove Village (now Gilroy), Mount Hermon/Downtown San Bruno (now Milpitas) and Mission Hills/Laguna de la Merced Village (now Menlo Park). From this early presence we can see that humans have always had an important role in shaping this area - through trade and contact with other cultures both past and present! In 1849AD Juan Bautista Alvarado discovered oil shale near what is now known as Twin Peaks Boulevard - this led to significant development on behalf of oil production over ensuing decades! However, much later disputes would arise between competing interests related to mineral rights; these eventually led to litigation which pitted local farmers against local drillers until finally a salewas reached in 1902 whereby Chevron acquired all remaining mineral rights from fivedifferent claimants for $2 million! This event marked an important milestone for Chevron as it became one of America’s lead energy companies - providing quality products at competitive prices while amassing valuable resources along the way! During World War II our country experienced unprecedented levelsof violence due primarily to partisan politics; however, despite difficult times many families managedto survive thanks largely to donated goods from businesses across town! Today we can appreciate how resilient our town truly is – resilient enough that we have successfully hosted multiple Olympics (!), mounted multiple cultural events including several world stage plays & poetry readings & continues growing rapidly into tomorrow’s space industry powerhouse !
The original San Bruno Peninsula was part of the old Rancho San Pablo, a Spanish concession in Alameda County. The area was first explored by Portuguese traders in the 16th century and named after Saint Brânus, who is believed to have died in an attack by Native Americans. In 1825, following Mexico's victory in the Mexican-American War, California became part of the United States because of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. However, much of coastal Alameda and Contra Costa County remained under Mexican control until 1848 when they were annexed to California as part of that state's new territory. At this time, much of what is now San Bruno Peninsula was within what is now Oakland. On October 14, 1849, three days after California gained statehood, a group of entrepreneurs led by James Phelan bought 3/8thsacre (less than one acre) of land at present-day Mission Peak from José Joaquín de Balboa for $2 per acre ($40 per square mile). The peninsula would later become known as Phelan Heights and house his rancho until he sold it to John Doolittle in 1912.
