Binoculars were first invented in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. The modern binocular is a development of the binocular in 1842 by John F. Kennedy and his brother, Francis. In 1924, a patent was granted to Edwin S. Porter for the design of a new type of binocular called an "optical periscope." These Periscopes allowed viewers to see farther away and provide greater clarity than traditional eyeglasses. By 1930, over 1 million pairs of binoculars had been sold in the United States alone!During World War II, many American soldiers usedbinoculars as spotting devices on battlefields around the world. One particular use was to help pilots fly their planes with superior visibility while flying at high altitudes over enemy territory. In 1954, Nikon Corporation began producing binoculars under license from American Optical Company (AOC). By 1957, AOC had discontinued production of all its optical products due to competition from Nikon’s new “ triplet” lens design which offered improved resolution and magnification when combined with other optics elements within eyeglasses or spectacle frames

It is well known that San Bernardino is located in the heart of the Central Valley. This makes it an ideal location for a major metropolitan area and large agricultural operation. The population of San Bernardino has grown rapidly over the past few decades, and now stands at over 350,000 people. The city is home to a number of important businesses and cultural institutions, as well as a large number of residents who work in nearby cities. The history of San Bernardino can be traced back to 1821 when Don Carlos Baca founded Mission California on land that he had acquired from the indigenous peoples. After years of construction, the mission was completed in 1825 and served as a center for religious instruction and trade until 1876, when it was destroyed by fire. In 1875, John Wesley Powell arrived in San Bernardino with his party of explorers searching for new routes to the East Coast. Heading southward through this region, they discovered an interesting Formation called Mono Lake which they named after their leader Mono Creek (now Mono County). In 1887, following discovery of oil reserves around Monterrey by Mexicanoil company Petroleo Mexicano de Acapulco Limited (PEMEX), General Antonio Mejia decided to build an oil refinery onsite at what would become known as Mejia Oil Field (now Kern County). At first this project was slow going due to lack of resources but soon production began upsurge due to improved transportation methods and increased demand from local miners. By 1912 output had reached 1 million barrels per day! During World War II much activity took place within San Bernardino during the days leading up to Pearl Harbor. A munitions plant operated by United States Rubber Company was built on Red Hill Road near Pershing Heights Cemetery between 1941-1944; this facility produced millions of rounds of artillery ammunition used in World War II. Other significant developments during this time include: completion in 1945 of Ulysses S Grant Drive which ran between East Avenue and West Street; establishment in 1946-1948of two professional theaters: one at City Hall Park overlooking Interstate 10 just east side Pershing Boulevard;and opening on July 12th 1948of Goldenvoice Records Studio which became one among many recording studios throughout Northern California developing into one of Hollywood’s most significant music industry leaders

San Bernardino is a city in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 68,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino– Riverside Metropolitan Statistical Area. There are three incorporated towns within San Bernardino proper: San Bernardino Heights, Sunnyvale and Westminster. The first Europeans to visit what is now San Bernardino were Jedediah Smith and his brother-in-law George Coombs in 1821 while on their trip up the Mojave River. They named their new land "Mount Vernon" after President James K. Polk's home in Virginia. A post office called Mount Vernon was established in 1827, but it was moved to its current location two years later because of the difficulty of getting mail through Redwood Canyon. In 1882, William Fenton erected a gristmill on what is now Winchester Road just east of present-day I-10 exit 111A/exit 12B near where Apple Store Plaza now stands. The mill continued to operate until 1912 when it was destroyed by fire; all evidence suggests that it had been running for some time before this event. In 1892, miners discovered gold at Sutter's Mill #1 about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of today's downtown San Bernardino when they struck an earth vein with their pickaxes; this discovery became known as the Sutter Mine Gold Rush which led to increased traffic along State Route 62 and other nearby roads that led to numerous small settlements being founded around these mines such as Fillmore City (1893), Hacienda Heights (1895), Midway City (1901), Groveland (1905), Crystal Valley (1908).
In 1814, San Bernardino was founded by Father Junipero Serra and the following year became part of what is today Orange County. The area that includes modern-day San Bernardino and Riverside counties was first under Spanish jurisdiction and then Mexican control before becoming part of what is now the United States in 1821. In 1848, San Bernardino became an incorporated town when it split from Yuma County. On Nov. 14, 1912, a fire destroyed much of downtownSan Bernardino as well as most of the city's homes and businesses; however the cause remains unknown. It took until 1951 for arson to be fully characterized as a crime in California.
