In 1916 Donnelly’s Wharf Brewery was sold to Foothills Brewing Company which continued production until 1942 when it closed down because World War II interfered with war-related business . After World War II there was heavy competition among industries for jobs so much so that two-thirds of Foothills Brewing Company’s employees went outofwork . In 1952 Foothills Brewing Company merged with Golden Gate Brewery becoming part of Alameda County brewery system . The last production at Donnellys Wharf ceased operations in 1960 .
