In 1892, a man named Cline patented the first gun hammer. The hammer was a metal plate that was hold in place by two screws and used to tighten or loosen bolts on firearms. It remained an innovation until the early 1900s when hammers became available in plastic or other materials. Gun hammers fell out of favor after World War I because they were not as durable as rifle hammers and became largely obsolete by the 1930s. However, they still remain an important part of firearm lore and are often used recreationally today for tasks such as tightening screws on shotguns or tightening nuts on rifles.

San Anselmo, California (population: 30,000) is located in Marin County and is a small town on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay. founded in 1853 as Yerba Buena Cove, it became a city in 1915. The population was 72,824 at the 2010 census. It is home to Point Reyes National Seashore and Isla Vista Naval Air Station. The first Europeans to visit San Anselmo were fishermen from Holland who anchored off the coast on October 3rd, 1853. A party led by Captain George Vancouver landed two boats with their supplies at Yerba Buena Cove and explored the area for several days before departing again that night. On October 11th another group of three sailors from HMS Beagle set out from Portsmouth, England with Lieutenant James Cook to explore Santa Cruz Island which they reached on November 5th but did not find any natives. In 1854 an American yacht called " Enterprise " was sent by Commodore John D'Estaing up thebay to investigate reports of gold mines near Monterey but did not find any golden nuggets or other valuable metals although some richly dug basalt rocks were discovered close to shore. In 1865 an Englishman named Robert Horsfall claimed land just north of San Anselmo Cove which he named Horsfall Heights after his horse-drawn cart loaded with goods he had found down the beach thereabouts. It was not until 1863 when under Captains John Derington and Nathaniel Hawthorne both British naval officers visited San Anselmo that anyone believed that there could be resources available offshore for exploration including coal and oil potentials south of Point Reyes National Seashore as well as possible mineral deposits at Isla Vista Naval Air Station where large quantities of seabedcoal were discovered during World War II using aircraft bombing raids against Japanese targets in the vicinity.. The discovery of oil reserves offshore adjacent to Seal Beach also helped spur development around this time as Refiners began marketing crude products from local kimberlite fields offshore.. In 1906 Edmond Weil opened what would become one of America's first commercial wineries when he purchased acres along Point Reyes Peninsula including what is now Yerba Buena Cove.. By 1910 most residents lived within walking distance of shops such as Sears & Roebuck while a few miles away sat a small army post garrisoned by Coast Guardsmen during World War I known locally as Black Mountain Barracks.. In 1916 mayor Harry Bridges proposed annexing part of Richmond County (now Solano County) creating an urban center on topo Mapsheet No 2 extending eastward past San Francisco Bay into Marin County so that people living east of Highway 1 could have access to jobs in downtown San Francisco while those west side could commute there for work or shopping activities centralizing around Market Street.. In 1923 Mayor Bridges merged City Hall with Richmond Public Library creating Municipal Building #1 which still stands today across Market Street from City Hall Annex housing Police Departments, Fire Departments and Schools until 1974 when it was demolished to make way for Interstate 80 expansion .. In 1932 Mayor Bridges created Pier 39 Park located immediately south along Highway 1 between Fort Mason Bridge and First Avenue North - now known as Embarcadero Marina - following completion of construction on nearby Golden Gate Bridge .. In 1941 Mayor Bridges designated Point Reyes Peninsula State Reserve totaling 324 acres making it one stop on then U.S.-Mexico Border Road system providing opportunities for fishing,, hiking,, bird watching,, camping,, driving tours through coastal Presidio LandformsNational Monument beaches visitors can explore its rugged coastlinelines., . . . . . . .The thriving economy resulted in increased population density making streets very noisy especially during rush hours ; buildings are built tight against each other without much open space giving rise to air quality issues particularly inside city limits; automobiles are popular transportation choices rather than public transportation; retail shopping centers dominate replaced older traditional businesses.; Despite these drawbacks many people continue live here despite challenges like high cost Of Living Indexes.,

The town was named after the Spanish name for the Strait of Magellan, San Anselmo de la Gomera. The first permanent settler in San Anselmo was James Sutter. He arrived in 1849 and built the first post office on Santa Cruz Street. It is said that he had a vision to build a sawmill on Mt Diablo so that he could make lumber for ships sailing from California to Japan. In 1850, Sutter also built the first school in San Anselmo, which served as a church until it burned down in 1865.
