In 1856, the first Powder Keg Ammunition Manufacturing Company was founded in San Anselmo, California. The company manufactured a variety of ammunition including black powder and percussion caps. In 1896, the company changed its name to Winchester Ammunition Company and continued to produce ammunition. In 1949, Winchester Ammunition Company merged with Remington Arms Company and became Remington Rand Corporation. From Remington Rand Corporation, Winchester Ammunition Company restarted production of rimfire rounds in 1960. Today, Winchester Ammunition is one of the leading producers of firearms ammunition worldwide.

A little over two centuries ago, San Anselmo was a small outpost on the southern tip of California. Today, it is one of America’s most vibrant and culturally diverse cities, with a population of nearly 200,000 people. The city is located on an Isabella Channel beachfront estate that stretches for more than 20 miles. It is bounded by Pacific Coast Highway to the north, the Santa Cruz Mountains to the east, and Mission Bay to the south. The area now known as San Anselmo was first settled by Native Americans in the 17th century. In 1821, American military officer Joshua Latham established a small town here after he defeated Mexican forces in what is now known as Battle of San Francisco Bay. A year later, Latham married Anna Maria de la Garza and founded the town named for his wife. At first, San Anselmo was primarily a fishing village; however, its growth soon led to its becoming an agricultural center with dairy and poultry production becoming dominant early on. In 1906, when SAN FRANCISCO acquired title to portions of Alameda County from Mexico under Treaty #8 (Yuma), San Anselmogl owners formed Anglo-American Land Company Limited which purchased 640 acres (2 km²) in present-daySan Bruno Heights along Parnassus Avenue from Russian immigrant Ivan Turgenev who had purchased it from Juan Bautista Castro in 1814. The land became known as "San Bruno Heights" because it lay atop high hills near where Bautista Castro's Rancho Buena Vista ran parallel to Parnassus Avenue today. In 1907 Anglo-American Land Company Ltd., renamed itself American Land Company Ltd., sold 1/4 mile (0 .6 km²) of shoreline at Point Lobos between Parnassus Avenue and Indian Wells Road extending into what is now Antioch Valley Park Reserve which includes modern day Soquel beach accesses northward from Point Lobos until Middle Harbor Cove beyond Long Beach Boulevard today In 1909 American Land Company Ltd., renamed again as Northern California Development Co., Inc., organized a 5-acre (2 ha) lot at 7800 block of Cliff House Road between Point Lobos Boulevard and Indian Wells Road for use as an open air shopping mall originally called "The Marketplace". That same year saw construction begin onwhat would become iconic Berkeley High School across from Old City Hall following purchase by Northern California Development Co., Inc.—the predecessor company to Kaiser Aluminum Industries Inc.—for $5 million dollars . Initially built using local materials such as sandstone quarried near University Drive then brick built over ensuing years using imported labor shortages caused by prohibition laws enacted during World War I led directly to increased profits for company president Harry Weisbacher thru importation quotas placed upon aluminum products used in warplanes

San Anselmo, California is a city located in San Francisco County, California on the East Bay of San Francisco. The population was 68,257 at the 2010 census and has grown to over 100,000 since then. The citys namesake is Spanish explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo who landed here in 1542 during his attempt to find new land route to Asia. The first permanent European settlement in what is now San Anselmo was made by Junípero Serra in 1777 as part of his effort to found a mission chain across the region. A year later, Antonio José de Urquiza founded the Presidio of Monterey with this same name. In 1821, Alvarado decided to make San Anselmo his new capital and named it after himself. However, the town only grew rapidly after 1825 when gold was discovered nearby at Sutter's Mill and elsewhere along the First Transcontinental Railroad. In1849-50, Major John Cushing led an army through San Rafael Valley from Stockton into Contra Costa County in order to open up country for colonization by Americans following Mexican independence from Spain. When he discovered gold near Sutter's Mill on July 24th of that year (the first discovery of gold in California), he ordered all male citizens of 25 years or older to accompany him back home with their equipment so that they could start mining operations immediately. From here began what would become one of America’s most successfulgold rushes – one that turned Sutter’s Mill into one of the largest and most important mines in North America by 1860. However, as soon as word got out about American gold discoveries further south – including at Fillmore and Oroville - many Mexicans quickly deserted their mines and towns throughout Northern California because they saw no practical reason for staying when there were plenty of other opportunities down south (or else they simply took advantage of superior American infrastructure). This prompted Commodore James Kenedy aboard USS Sacramento (CA)to direct naval forces against Mexican minefields off SouthernCalifornia early in 1851 while Californios were still keeping hope that Yankee treasure might yet be found north instead! Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for us!), Kenedy failed to strike any major blows against these enemy installations; instead he resulted in several costly engagements which cost many men and vessels including both USS Sacramento AND her captain David Dixon Porter…. In fact forfeiture proceedings were brought against both ships shortly thereafter….. By 1863 much of Mission Viejo had also been abandoned due largely to organized labor unrest caused by concerns over competition from Chinese miners working within miles of neighboring Los Angeles! In 1876–77 Alvarado became acting governor under Governor George Hearst following appointments made by President Ulysses Grant which ended Reconstruction Era rule in California] As lieutenant governor under Hearst from 1886 until 1889 he served as chairmanpersonity board Water Resources Committee.] He died at age 93 on December 21st 1888.] As mayor from 1905 until 1908 he opposed annexation proposals submitted by City fathers seeking more land withincity limits.] He once said: "I am not interested either politically or materially either way." ]]
