Salinas, California is a city in Monterey County, California, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salinas–Monterey–Humboldt statistical area. Today, Salinas remains an active settlement with a population of approximately 10,000 people who enjoy a wide variety of cultural experiences from its many attractions such as its annual Fiesta del Pueblo (Pueblo Festival), which takes place in late July or early August; its agricultural products such as corn tortillas and chiles rellenos; cattle ranching operations; casinos; golf courses nearby; public libraries; and large commercial districts comprising several blocks of downtown business buildings typically filled with locally owned businesses selling music, arts & crafts, groceries etc.; as well as small clusters of residences facing away from these areas for privacy reasons typical both among Latinos living here long term (many have been here since before World War II) while also possessing some Anglo/Hispanic characteristics unique to this region
