The Oak Grove neighborhood is home to Roseville's only high school, Roseville High School. Central High School (now Shasta Valley Community College District), which opened in 1969 and served students from eastside neighborhoods adjacent to Central Avenue until 1988 when they were transferred to nearby Siskiyou High School; also opened that year were Humboldt Junior College (now Merced Community College District) on Wabash Avenue between I-5 and Waterman Street east of central street and Southern Pacific Railroad freight yards across from Humboldt Junior College being bought by ASUrosevale Campus Incorporated with plans for it becoming a college campus Auxiliary Plan No 1 filed with City Clerk dated 7/9/1988 entitled "ASUrosevale Campus Incorporated - Proposed Expansion Plans For Southern Pacific Railroad Yards In Downtown Roseville" . The first building on this site (the original Central High school) was completed prior to the effective date Of This Plan By virtue Of Said Property Owned By ASUrosevale Campus Incorporated And Occupying More Than Two Acres Which Is Now Known As Old City Hall Annexe Completed On or About 8/24/1989 With Architectural Design By John Ritchieffe architectural design services were provided To Create A State-of-the-art Facility That Includes A Multi-Purpose Gymnasium With Classrooms Totaling Seventy Six And An Indoor Pool With 25meter pool fence Provides Recreational Space As Well As Education Facilities . In 1872 when Roseville incorporated as a town, Josiah Wolk became its first mayor; he would serve until his death in 1888. A year later, agriculture became the mainstay of business and growth began with various churches opening up along Main Street including one for Latter Day Saints (LDS Church) which still operates today. White cotton plantations were established west of town while Japanese investors purchased some farmland east of town beginning what would become an agricultural dynasty that continues to this day; they are also responsible for developing many downtown streets including Oneonta Avenue which runs through downtown and now forms part of UC Berkeley's campus boundaries
