In 1865, Valentine Copley immigrated to the United States and organized what would become Depot Road & Grain Elevator Company with $5 ($ today) worth of grain that he had imported overland from India that year. The company constructed an flour mill on Hwy 101 near present day Gateway Drive. By 1870 there were 9 businesses including 3 grocery stores, 3 taverns (the most recent being built 1925), 2 churches (one Methodist and one Baptist), a hotel (the Westin Hotel), 4 schools (3 high school grades plus 1 private grade school), two banks - First National Bank of Sacramento and Citizens National Bank - 5 saloons(4 drinking places for men only plus 1 barber shop), 4 factories making items like shoes(2 brick made warehouses), 6 sawmills producing lumber(6 different types of mills) as well as 7 farmers markets/grocery stores selling everything from eggs to tomatoes to hardware supplies In 1880 when gold seekers discovered gold near Eldridge they Camellia Creek area so called because it looked like a rose when viewed from atop some hills west of town this led people to believe that this might be where they find the golden mineral ores so they set out prospecting those areas also resulting in finding some small amounts of gold but nothing large enough to make anything substantial so no towns or cities were founded until around 1910 when tracks leading eastward from downtown started shown up again followed by further discovery later naming these new towns after various elements found along those tracks such as Crystal Springs or Hillcrest Mines etc So many people came into town during this time period that both streets running east-west past downtown quickly became filled with people carrying goods back and forth between various businesses all while still using oldbuildings like the Depot Hotel which still stands today although much newer inside with modern amenities throughout despite its numerous face changes over the years such as moving its kitchen layout from an open concept dining room configuration onto more formal institutional lines circa 1955-1960 which then caused it to be converted into a Bed & Breakfasts business about 1990 Upperclass citizens generally resided southeast of Downtown along present day Midtown Boulevard while lowerclass citizens resided northwest along present day I Street . Traffic congestion became increasingly common due to all these arrivals during this time period with no end in sight for either classes or services offered . Transportation options at that time included walking or horseback riding across miles of open countryside

The first European to settle in what would become Roseville was French-Canadian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin who founded a post office here on November 24, 1859. In 1872, Alice Palmer McDougall became the first American woman to serve as mayor of Roseville when she was elected unopposed. In 1907, Wm Hurlbut built an unsuccessful golf course here which later became known as Pacific Hills Golf Course. In 1912 Norma Semon moved to Roseville from Bakersfield with her husband Irving Seehorn Sr., who had just won election as Mayor of Sacramento following the death of his predecessor John Fenton. They started a grocery store on 4th Street called Norma's Grocery & Liquor before moving it to their current location on 6th Street in 1926; at this time they were one of only two grocery stores open during all hours in town (the other being Safeway). The Weingarten family took over management of Norma's Grocery & Liquor fromNorma Semon after her death in 1951 and continued until 1978 when it closed due to declining sales combined with competition from Safeway and Woolworths supermarkets across town. In 1984–85 Jerry Weingarten donated land on 5th Avenue between Sidney and Pine Streets for use as a community college campus; today that campus serves as the homebase for CSU Stanislaus Valley College District #1 (CSULanis). The Weingartens also donated money towards construction of new basketball courts for townspeople living near 7th Street/Stanford Boulevard and 12th Street/University Avenue; these courts were completed in 1987 and renamed University Courts after then-President George Washington Carver III.; however, no basketball games ever took place because local residents neither wanted nor needed professional level play. Roseville is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 43,171 as of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in the county and the third-largest city in California behind San Francisco and Los Angeles. It is located on both sides of the Ryan–Boling Air Force Base just east of downtown Roseville and across from New Hope Baptist Church. The first Europeans to visit what is now Roseville were Spanish missionaries in 1769, who named it "San Marcos de la Union" (St. Mark's Valley). A post office called Rancho Santiago was established at the site in 1871. In 1875, a group of entrepreneurs founded what became known as Southern Pacific Railroad Company #1 (SPR), which built a line south from Sacramento to Martinez via Redwood City and Roseville. The town started off as an agricultural community with scattered homes, but by 1915 there were more than 100 buildings and over 1,000 residents. In 1925, when all of Contra Costa County was incorporated into one unified government under the name of California, Roseville became part of that new jurisdiction. The population continued growth until 1950 when it peaked at 55,000 people; since then it has remained relatively stagnant with around 42,000 people living within its boundaries according to the 2010 census estimate
