They named their new towns after themselves: Roseville for Rose Tingey, and Arden for George Tingey. The name "Arden" may be an allusion to the arid conditions in that area at the time. In 1911, the two towns merged to form one municipality under the name of Roseville-Arden. In 1916, they changed their names again to Roseville-Alameda because of annexation by Alameda County (now Contra Costa County). In 1931, when Valley City was incorporated as a separate town withinRoseville-Alameda, it reverted back to its original name of Arden once again due to annexation by Valley City from Alameda County. A post office called Arden has been in operation since 1887. The first store opened in rosevale on august 25th 1889 by Cesar Chavez with $10 worth of provisions he had brought over with him from his previous job as a farmhand

It is located on the eastern edge of downtown Roseville and is bordered by Fullerton to the north and east, Canoga Park to the south, and Gurnee to the west. The first European settlement in what is now Roseville was made by Captain George Hearn on November 13, 1837. He named his new town after his home state of New York City where he had been born. In 1838, James Waddell became the first postmaster here. The town was incorporated on February 10, 1840. In 1865, gold was discovered in nearby Atascadero Mines; this led to an influx of miners and traders into Roseville which caused economic growth and increased population size until 1880 when most of the mining activity stopped due to competition from San Francisco Bay Area mines. However, during World War II much of this wealth was used to finance American arms production including fighter planes for General MacArthur's Burma Campaigns. After 1945 many businesses closed down as technology advanced leading to a more traditional economy with more service-sector jobs today than mining or lumbering industries did before; however there are still some remnants of these old industries such as foundry manufacturing around downtown that produce cast iron objects Today's most significant industry (outside farming) comes from transportation: Roseville has two freeways running through it – Interstate 5 and State Route 66 – making it easily accessible for workers commuting into larger cities like Los Angeles or Riverside just minutes away by car or bus. Other major employers include Kaiser Permanente Medical Center ( founded in 1911), Chevron Oil refinery (founded 1942), Lockheed Martin Corporation (established 1968), Cache Valley Community College (established 1966) and several smaller companies providing services such as landscaping services or construction materials
The Roseville area was first settled in the 1800s. The first post office in the area was established in 1892. In 1905, a group of businessmen and farmers founded the Roseville Agricultural Company. By 1912, the company had developed a large wheat acreage, and by 1918 it had constructed a flour mill on Webb Road. In 1923, the company merged with another agricultural firm to form the United States Grain Growers Association. In 1937, after World War II ended,roseville became an incorporated city. The following year saw the establishment of its first fire department and police department. In 1951, roseville added an elementary school to its educational system and a high school in 1959. Since then, roseville has undergone several remodelings including an addition of an auditorium in 2009 and renovation of its main street in 2013-14
