Aside from its namesake flower - roses are still very popular in Rosesville - other notable aspects of Roseville's history include: - The first school open in Rosesville – Wabash Intermediate School – opened on December 1st, 1892; - Mrs. Prentice donated land for an educational institution which became known as Northern California Normal School (now Angelicum) – located at 6th and Elm Streets; - A hospital was built on property donated by Mrs. Prentice and Drs. Griggs and Fenton – now known as Mercy Medical Center; - A fire destroyed most of downtown RosesVILLE on November 22nd, 1907 which left behind a lasting impression on residents; - On February 3rd, 1912 local resident Nellie Halsey organized what is now called "The bake sale" or simply "the bake sale", which served as an early form of fundraising for local charities such as Lady Bird Johnson Girls’ Home; and finally
