Rosemead, California is a small town in Northern California. It is located about an hour north of San Francisco and about two hours south of Oakland. The population was 8,752 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Rosemead was first settled by Native Americans in the 1770s. In 1853, the United States Geological Survey named it after Harrison Gray Otis, who had been governor of New York from 1850 to 1855. The name "Otis" referred to the nearby Mount Auburn Hill. In 1861, when Rosemead was established as a station on the Central Pacific Railroad system, its citizens voted to incorporate as a town. The vote was organizers' idea and not based on any land value or considerations other than convenience for travelers between Rosemead and San Francisco. The first post office opened in 1862; Rosemead's name at that time was spelled "Rosenfeld". The town experienced rapid growth during World War I due to its strategic location near military posts and shipping ports along the west coast; during World War II it became one of the most important center points for munitions production in Northern California following bomber raids against Tokyo Bay

Handguns are not just for hunting or protection; they can also be used as deadly instruments when necessary. One reason handguns remain so popular is because they are relatively safe when handling. In 1909, Helen Keller moved to Rosemead from Pasadena and began her training as an education specialist at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She became world-renowned for her work with children with special needs and later served as president of both the American Red Cross and UNESCO. One of Keller's descendants is Umberto Eco, author of "The Name of theRose". In 1947, following World War II's end, rose meadow was annexed by Pasadena as part of its merger into Los Angeles County
