Rosemead is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 38 miles east of Fresno and 20 miles west of Merced. The population was 9,723 at the 2010 census. The name "Rosemead" originated from a post office called "Rosenfeld" which was established in 1887. The first settler in what is now Rosemead was Anna Rosenfeld who homesteaded land near present-day Fresno on March 12, 1892. The town site was surveyed by Napa County Surveyor George Hinkle in 1902 and approved by the county board on May 3, 1902. The original plat included a church, school, summer home for local women residents, and other miscellaneous buildings that are still extant today. The first store opened its doors on October 14th 1903 when Harry Cockerill opened the Store No1 at 10 West 4th Street. Mr. Cockerill operated the store until his death in 1939. In 1907, Mrs Florence Larkin set up her own grocery store at 5 East Third Street which continues to be an important part of the community today. A two-story frame addition to this structure was added in 1963 and became known as Mrs Larkin’s Department Store after her widow passed away in 1984. A new school (now closed) replaced Mrs Larkin’s Store on February 15th 1906 when Rosemead Union School District No2 opened its doors with 107 students enrolling in grades K-8th inclusive. It should be noted that no girls attended this school until 1912 when Drusilla Coleman organized a girls’ school within the district that served grade 8th through 12th students until it closed in 1971; however all evidence indicates that there were indeed ladiesistar pupils during those years! In 1916 construction began on what would become Rosemead High School which sat across Main Street from Mrs Larkin’s Department Store while simultaneously being used as a Community Service Center for area farmers during World War I (1918-1920). Upon completion of construction local citizens enjoyed their first football game against visiting Bakersfield High School playedat Centerville Stadium (now Cathedral Catholic High School) due to newly installed electric lights! When referred to as “High School Stadium” it should be noted that this facility seated over 300 people including many open fields adjacent to it making it one of largest football stadiums ever built! Unfortunately due to increasing population and economic conditions Rosemead HS closed its doors for good on September 30th 1951 following thirty years of operation!

Rosemead is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,578 at the 2010 census. It is located on the central coast of San Diego County. The name derives from "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," which means "the Valiant Knights Have Died" in Shakespeare's play Hamlet. The townsite was first developed as part of Rancho Santa Anita Mexican land grant in 1848. A post office called Rosemead founded in 1851, and the community took its present name in 1882 when it amalgamated with nearby La Jolla. The railroad arrived in 1902 and helped to spur development; by 1910, much of the town had been built up around four large hotels and several other businesses. The last major hotel closed down in 1984. Today, Rosemead retains a scattering of its original homes and storefronts as well as some significant historical landmarks: the handsome old courthouse (now used as a park), two churches (one Gothic Revival-style, one Spanish Mission style), both of which were built in1882-83; a football stadium that has been home to both the Kern Valley Football Association's Roseseeders football team and various college teams over the years; numerous shops and restaurants; and an access road leading into downtown that features restored streetcar tracks dating back to 1907
Rosemead is a town in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 7,723 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino–Riverside–Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located in the eastern section of Riverside County. The first European to visit what is now Rosemead was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on November 14, 1501. He named it "San Bernardino" after his Spanish home town of Santa Barbara. In 1847, George Washington Carver settled here and he and his wife Anna founded what would become Southern Pacific Railroad's Carver Station near present-day Rosemead Boulevard and Villa Park Drive in 1848. In 1861, when Rosemead incorporated as a town, its first mayor was John Ahern Jr.. One of the most famous residents of Rosemead during its early years was composer Jerome Kern who lived here from 1922 until his death in 1988. His sonorous Hollywood scores were usually completed at Carver Station where he worked as an engineer on tracks that run through the community today. Rosemead has had a number of businesses open their doors over the years such as First Federal Savings & Loan (1914), Alfred Pritchett's Tire Place (1915), The Betty Ford Clinic (1972), Applebee's restaurant (1985) and more recently The Roxy Theatre Company which opened up shop late last year within walking distance from all of our homes!
