Gun swivels are a type of gun holster that allow the user to rotate the holster 90 degrees in order to change its orientation. This allows for different shooting positions and improved accuracy when shooting. The first guns designed with gun swivels were pistols, and they were used primarily by police officers. In 1892, a company named Browning began producing revolvers with pistol-grip swivels. These guns became known as “Breeches” because their holsters had straps running down the sides that allowed them to be worn over trousers. From these pistols, other types of firearms such as rifles and shotguns were adapted, including those that featured rifle stocks that could be rotated 180 degrees in order to fire from various positions. Rifle magazines also began being equipped with gunswivels in the early 20th century in an effort to improve accuracy while firing from multiple positions. Gunswives have been used throughout history, and they are now considered an integral part of modern firearm usage.

In 1858, a man named George Curtis moved to Rocklin and started a grocery store. In 1865, he married Catharine Hogg and they started raising pigs. By 1870, the Curtis family had a grocery store and three barns. They also grew horses and cattle. In 1871, the Curtises built their first home on present-day Old Broadway in Rocklin. The couple continued to operate their business until 1907 when they sold it to Hedda Cramer. After her death in 1933, the business was taken over by her husband Mortimer Cramer until his death in 1961. The Cramers ran the store until it closed in 1984.
The town of Rocklin, California is located in the Kern County region of Southern California. It is bordered by Fresno to the east, Bakersfield to the west, and Porterville to the north. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. Rocklin was founded in 1849 as a small cattle-raising community on what is now known as San Joaquin Valley land near present day John Day Station. The name may be derived from nearby Mount Diablo, which was also called "Rocklin." At its peak in 1872, Rocklin had a population of 478 people and was considered one of the most prosperous towns in Kern County. However, by 1900 Rocklin's population had declined to just 97 people. During World War II, Rocklin served as an Army airfield for bomber pilots training at nearby Mundelein Air Force Base. After the war ended, many residents left for various reasons including much joblessness during peacetime and scarce housing opportunities after statehood (1948). In recent decades however rocklin has slowly regained some popularity with a growing number of businesses and residences offerings within walking distance or minutes' drive of downtown Rocklin.
Gun swivels date back to at least the late 1800s. At that time, many people believed that a gun could be rotated so that it could be pointed in any direction. This was possible because the breech of a gun was not locked into place by means of a band around the barrel. Instead, the breech was open and could be rotated in all directions. One early adopter of this feature was Major George Custer during the American Civil War. When Confederate General Robert E. Lee threatened to march on Washington, D.C., Custer had his horse roll its eyes and point its head skyward so that it resembled an upside-down “U” with two arrows sticking out of it (see Figure 1). This action caused Confederate cavalry commanders to change their minds about attacking Washington and instead march towards Richmond instead (see Figure 2).

Rocklin is a small town in Kern County, California, located east of Bakersfield and northwest of Visalia. The population was 2,527 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1853 by Captain John Rocklin and his wife Marilla Smith. The first post office in Rocklin was established in 1855. The town incorporated as a city on December 15, 1909. It became an independent county on December 15, 1911. The name "Rocklin" comes from the Spanish word "roca," meaning rock or boulder. Rocklin is home to one of the few remaining examples of an early 20th century adobe rancho style home called Rancho San Pablo, built circa 1912-1914 by ranchers Harry Harkins and Florence Ladds. A replica of this home can be found on South Main Street near the old high school campus in Rocklin. Other notable landmarks include: the privately owned Chico Store (now a restaurant), which served as the first stop for travelers on their way to Bakersfield; and Pritchett's Drug Store (now Pritchett's Pizza) which operated from 1914 to 1962 and across from KFC until it closed its doors that year after serving more than 12 million customers over 57 years!
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town of Rocklin has a total area of , all of it land. The population of Rocklin was 1,898 at the 2010 census. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,531 people, 524 households, and 389 families residing in the town. The population density was 20 people per square mile (7/km²). There were 611 housing units at an average density of 11 per square mile (4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96% White and 3% African American. Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 2%of the population.
