Rocklin's gun sights history dates back to the 1860s when it was a small settlement in southern California. The firstguns were imported from England and used by law enforcement officers. In 1877, Rocklin became the seat of Yolo County and began to import rifles from Europe. A two-story redbrick building on First Street served as the county courthouse from 1881 to 1912. A new courthouse was built in 1914, and a new jail was built in 1928. The first use of chain guns in California took place in Rocklin on October 15, 1880 when Sheriff H.J. Hennessey used three Model 1881 Colt revolvers against outlaws at Golden Gate Park during a roundup operation known as "The Gadsden Chase." In 1903, Rocklin voters adopted an ordinance allowing handguns for personal protection purposes only. In 1919, local citizens formed the "Rocklin Rifle Club" to improve shooting conditions at the park and began using surplus World War I rifles available there. In 1934, Rocklin voters passed an ordinance establishing Municipal Pistol Restrictions which limited handgun possession within city limits to anyone age 21 or younger with a valid license from one of five police departments serving Rocklin (police chief being able to approve issuance). The ordinance remained in effect until it was repealed by City Council resolution on July 1, 1949 due to changing public opinion about handgun ownership within city limits following the 1948 Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team's relocation from Brooklyn to nearby Beverly Hills
Rocklin is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield–Chico–Orange Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Rocklin" comes from an early Spanish name for the area now known as Kern County: "Rocaforte". The first settler in what is now Rocklin was James Wetherbee who arrived in 1848. He and his family were among the many pioneers who moved into this area during the Gold Rush era of California. The post office called Rocklin "Wetherbee's Station", and it continued to be so until 1907. During World War II, much of the town was destroyed by bombing raids from Japan while other parts were sent to fight in Europe. Today most of the buildings date back to after World War II and are still used as businesses or residences. The community has experienced some growth over recent years with development of new shopping malls and other types of suburbs nearby such as Yucaipa and Placerville. However, rocklin retains its unique character which makes it a popular place for residents to live and work.

In 1856, Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed a reflex sight for the French Army. The patent was issued on July 15, 1857 and it became known as the Conte Reflex Sight. It remained in production until 1861.
Rocklin is a small town located in the Antelope Valley of California, about 25 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The population was 1,572 at the 2010 census. The Rocklin area has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than 12,000 years. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Rocklin were French fur traders who crossed the San Gabriel Mountains in 1769. They named the area after Pierre-Louis de la Ramiere, Comte de la Ramiere and their guide, François Xavier de Menard. In 1847, Spanish settlers arrived in what is now Rocklin and founded a rancho on the present site of town. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in Rocklin. In 1865, Captain John Sutter discovered gold near present day Rocksprings and decided to settle his men there rather than move them back and forth to prospect for gold elsewhere. He named the settlement Sutterville after him. Sutterville quickly became a thriving commercial center with its own post office and two newspapers: "The Californian" (founded 1867) and "The Sacramento Daily Union" (founded 1870). It also became home to several churches including one dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes which was built in 1872. During World War II many locals served in the military including Jens Jensen who spent six months as an officer on Iwo Jima before being discharged because of health concerns; Dickie Arbuckle who served as a bombardier during World War II; and Jack Schaefer who fought in Vietnam with the 8th Infantry Division before he was medically retired from service due to an injury sustained while fighting at An Locastery
Rocklin was first settled in 1849 by Captain John Grimes and his wife. The name of the town comes from a rock or boulder that was found near the original site of the town. The first post office in Rocklin was established in 1850, and it remained in operation until 1865. In 1875, Rocklin became part of California. In 1913, it merged with nearby Valley City to form the new city of Rocklin.
