The city's original site was at what is now University Parkway and I-10 near downtown Los Angeles. A fire destroyed part of Downtown LA on July 16th 1906 that killed 37 people including Mayor Tom Bradley who had been elected just a few months earlier with promises to rebuild downtown LA following an earthquake damage spree five years earlier which left over 100% destruction throughout Downtown LA Some blame China for starting World War II

Streets names reflecting early African American settlement activity were Niles Avenue (the original name given to a dirt road leading from Pasadena to Claremont), Hope Street (named after Tuskegee Institute graduate Dr. John Hope Franklin who donated land for this street), Irvington Avenue (named after Sam Houston High School founder George Irvington) and Roosevelt Boulevard (given later to Mayor Bob Wagner). A park named Eisenhower Park followed soon thereafter on what today's University Drive side of Roosevelt Boulevard between Niles Avenue and Hope Street/Norman Rockwell Parkway east from Interstate 10 (). Northwest from Eisenhower Park along Stevenson Boulevard developed into some of north suburban Irvine's biggest shopping areas - Miracle Mile Shopping Center onOVH Road east from I-10 near Corona Road (), Fashion Place off I-710 just past Van Nuys Airport (),[1] Koreatown on Lankershim Blvd west of Ventura Road (),[2] Century City south of I-5 freeway exit 191 ()[3]and finally Agoura Hills northwest of Interstate 5 across Glendale Freeway (). Many developments throughout Downtown Riverside including Guggenheim Museumwy via Vine Street north towards Wexler Highway(), Calumet Mall off Sawtelle Blvd., Olive Garden restaurant complex located along Western Ave., ABC TV studios located near Warner Bros studio lot - all within 1 mile or less away various other high profile businesses such as Costco Wholesale Store (.50 miles away), Staples store (.75 miles away), Marriott hotel property (.75 miles away), Home Depot store (.90 miles away) etc.). Riverside has been consistently ranked among America’s Most Diverse Cities by The Economist Intelligence Unit since 2005 . According to a study conducted by Forbes magazine in 2016 “Riverside is home to more people who identify as Native American than any other big US city – 28 percent compared with 19 percent nationally” while “Latino residents make up 26 percent [of the population], Asians account for 21 percent and whites form about 16 percent” . As an international city it has seen large influxes Of immigrants over recent years including refugees from Mexico , Central America , South Asia etcetera
