The first rifles to be used in Riverbank were those that were developed at the Rancho San Diego Rifle and Pistol Range. The Rancho San Diego Rifle and Pistol Range was located in present-day Riverbank, California. This range was opened on December 15th, 1934 and it served as a training ground for both military and law enforcement officers. The Rancho San Diego Rifle and Pistol Range played an important role in the development of rifle stocks in Riverbank. Many of the early rifle stocks that were created at this range were designed to provide shooters with a durable firearm that would be able to withstand high levels of abuse. Some of these early rifle stocks included the Model 1903 Springfield, Model 1904 Winchester, and Model 1907 Colt pistols. These riflestocks were designed to provide users with a firearm that was capable of providing them with great accuracy and firepower. Over time, other individuals also began contributing their expertise to the development of rifle stocks in Riverbank. One such individual was George Aiken who worked at the Rancho San Diego Rifle and Pistol Range from 1935 until his retirement in 1984. This change came about due to various events which took place within our community during this time frame: namely;the opening of Camp Perry by CalArts during World War II;the entrance into interstate service by American forces during World War II;and finally;the transformation from open land into dedicated gun ranges which occurred within our community beginning around 1960s when barrel length restrictions were put into place following passage of newly enacted state law governing firearms ownership/use

In 1907, when Riverbank became an incorporated city, Mr. Beaumont donated some land to make way for a new municipal park which is now known asBeaumont Park. The rifle stocks program at this park was started by Captain John Sutter with assistance from Mayor Harry Wilkinson and later by City Manager Floyd Bendixson. This program continues to this day as part of the Parks Department’s history program series called “Welcome to Beaumont Park!” In 1923, Mr. Beaumont died and his son took over management of his business operations in Riverbank until his death in 1949 when it passed into the hands of his daughter who still controls it today. From 1949 through1983 ownership changed hands several times before finally being passed on to George Widenbach who currently administers it as part of the city government's historical resources department
Riverbank is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 4,502 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta and is east of Bakersfield. The name "Riverbank" was given to the area by developer George Washington Carver because it straddled both banks of the river that flows through the town. At first, only low-lying areas were developed; however, as riverfront property became available and development proceeded along the riverside corridor, more high-rise buildings and neighborhoods were erected. Today Riverbank contains over of commercial and residential real estate along its waterfront. According to the United States Census Bureau, Riverbank has a total area of , all land. As of 2000, there were 3,653 people living in Riverbank. The racial makeup of Riverbank was 83% White American/9% African American/1% Native American; 1% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 2% from other races; 3% from two or more races; 3% Hispanic or Latino of any race. 1

In 1912, it merged with nearby Wasco to form a new city which has held its status as an incorporated city ever since. Riverbank has been known for its agricultural production ever since it was settled and today produces over 60% of all crops grown in Kern County! Some of the most important products produced here include grapes, applesauce (a popular condiment), onions, watermelons and almonds.
The first European settlers in the area were the Franciscan Missionaries, who arrived in 1769. The mission was destroyed by a fire in 1821, but new missionaries arrived and continued to operate until 1829. In 1836, California became part of Mexico under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War. The United States acquired California as part of the Treaty of Paris in 1848, and began to claim it as its own territory. The Gold Rush started in 1849 and soon led to large numbers of people coming into California looking for gold. By 1850, most of what is now California had been explored and claimed by the United States.
