Riverbank is a small town in the counties of San Bernardino and Riverside. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Riverbank Creek. The name "Riverside" originated from two adjoining Indian reservations: Cahuilla and Rancho Niguel. On December 12, 1881, a deed was signed by Edward Rolph, Governor of California and Alfred Mclntyre Grant, US Secretary of Interior creating Riverside County. At that time, both reservations were part of El Dorado County. The first post office in Riverbank was established in 1892. In 1907, the river was poisoned with cyanide to prevent accidental fishing by settlers along its banks; as a result, all but three businesses closed down for several weeks during that period. Businesses reopened after it was determined that the toxin had been consumed by birds rather than humans and no one was injured. In 1916, an electric water heater went out at the local grocery store which caused $5 million worth of damage to property including five homes in Riverbank; fortunately no one died as a result as this type of incident wasn't common during those days! In 1922-23, construction began on what would become known as Memorial Stadium which would come to be home to The University of Southern California Trojans football team throughout their history until their move to Los Angeles in 2019). That same year saw also saw the opening of Valley Fair Casino where Lake Arrowhead Resort now stands; this area served as a popular tourist destination for locals and visitors alike due to its proximity to shopping malls like Westfield Town Center and Honda Plaza nearby. On July 10th 1971 PTA members moved rocks off I-10 bridge into I-795 EB so they could have access onto old Oatman Ranch Rd (now G Street) adjacent property owned by PTA member Dave Haggerty - prior thereto there had been only public access via privately owned rights-of-way! After many years without any real progress being made on developing or improving Interstate 10 eastbound from Inland Empire Boulevard through Riverside County proper . . . Congress passed legislation entitled "National Defense Authorization Act For Fiscal Year 2002" (Public Law 107–252) commonly referred to as NDAA 2102 et seq., which included provisions authorising additional transportation projects within CBP jurisdiction situated within inland borders thereof proposed at milepost 7 thru milepost 9 eastern boundary line between Riverside County & San Bernardino County--including reconstruction/removal/alteration/addition or improvement’s/rehabilitation etc., traversing existing State highway 14 bridges thereby providing alternate routes for traffic travelling thru inland communities near CBP airport—the current plan called “I-10 East Widening Project” has been authorized under Title V Division 4a U S Army Corps Of Engineers Field Manual 601–15 (2), chapter 3 titled “Environmental Planning And Development For Military Facilities And Missions” dated September 2003

In 1916, Riverbank incorporated as a city under the name of Bakersfield. During World War II, Riverbank played an important role as a munitions production site for the war effort. The city's economy suffered however due to wartime restrictions on agricultural production and lack of available credit. In 1957, Riverbank merged with Bakersfield to form one largest city in California. In recent years, Riverbank has been experiencing growth as a bedroom community for Bakersfield and other nearby cities.
The first permanent European settlement in what is now Riverbank, California was founded by Father Francisco Javier de la Rocha on December 7, 1769. The town began as a small village named Rancho San Miguel, located on the eastern bank of the Sacramento River. In 1847, the town became a city under state jurisdiction and was renamed Sacramento.
