In 1916, Ripon Elementary School moved to its current location on Main Street after having been bombed during World War I. 2 more elementary schools joined the school district over time: Ripon Middle School (1966) and Fairfax Junior/Senior High School (1983). As gambling increased throughout Southern California during the early 20th century,[1] so did prostitution in riponi Valley which attracted many miners to this area seeking treasure chests or quick money for their journey back home.[2] This negative effect led to organized crime activity associated with prostitutes which eventually led to law enforcement operations targeting these gangs operating out of riponi Valley until about 1970s when it all dissipated due to social changes within society & changing technology
