In 1850, a man named George Ripon started manufacturing bipods in his home in Ripon, California. In 1875, Ripon and his son took their company public with the help of the local bank. The company continued to grow in popularity throughout the next century and until World War I it produced over 100,000 bipods per year. The company was eventually sold to Royal Dutch Shell in 1916 and ceased production that same year. However, the RIPON brand continues to be used by some companies today for products such as monopods and sandals.

Nevertheless, through trial and error each group developed different ways of moving that allowed them to survive and thrive in their environment. Eventually, humans emerged as the dominant forms of life on Earth because they were able to develop more versatile ways of moving than any other creature at that point in history! Ripon is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It was founded in 1853 by John Fitch and his brother, James Fitch. The community grew rapidly after becoming the terminus of the Central Pacific Railroad. In 1907, Ripon became an incorporated town. It is located on Hwy. 128, about 20 miles west of Sacramento and 40 miles east of Stockton. The town is home to many interesting historical artifacts, including a replica of the original Central Pacific Railroad locomotive, "John Fitch". The locomotive has been on display at Ripon Historical Society since 1967. Another notable relic from Ripon's past is the nearby Atherton Mill which was built in 1892 and still operates as a grain storage/processing facility. Today, Ripon continues to grow with businesses such as retail stores, restaurants, banks and other services providing locals and visitors with opportunities for shopping, dining and exploring its unique history.
Ripon is a small town in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, located on the east bank of the San Bernardino River. The population was 9,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Ripon was Elisha Dickson in 1847. When gold was discovered in nearby San Bernardino County, Dickson built a cabin and began trading with miners for goods and services. By 1851, he had organized a store and post office to serve his community. A Whipple locomotive named "Dickson" ran through Ripon on its way to Stockton to pick up passengers during the early days of railroad travel. The discovery of silver in nearby Doña Ana County led to increased mining activity in Ripon, which by 1860 had become one of the most important towns along both sides of the river for extracting this valuable metal. Mining operations continued until 1865 when all but one mine were closed due to low prices for silver coins relative to other commodities at that time. Businesses reopened soon thereafter and continue operating today as local businesses such as banks, restaurants, retailers and auto parts stores are located within close proximity to each other throughout ripon's downtown area. In 1881, Ripon amalgamated with neighboring communities of Menifee (to the south) and Ontario (to the north). At that time it became one municipality with a population approaching 1,000 people divided evenly between two institutions: The School District #2 - including Ripon High School - which operated from separate buildings on Main Street until 1943; and then Community College District No 2 which opened its doors on October 14th 1969 within blocks of present day City Hall!
