After the war, Ridgecrest experienced a resurgence with new development including a shopping mall, two golf courses, an opera house and several thousand homes. The community reached its peak around 2000 when it had over 10,000 residents and an estimated $100 million in assets. However, since then there has been little change to the demographics or economic status of Ridgecrest which is popular for its natural resources such as Mono Lake and ancient Bristlecone Pines
