Headed by Gaspar de Portolà, this expedition explored much of what is now San Bernardino County and named many places in honor of Spanish governors who had supported it including Atwater Mesa (at ), San Jacinto Valley (northwest corner), Mission Viejo (west side), Topaz Hills (southwestern corner) and Cerritos Valley (southeast corner). In 1821 John Sutter discovered gold near where today's Antelope Canyon meets Shafter Mesa. This led to extensive mining operations that continue through present day; several large dumps remain open today as part of surface mine workings such as those at Lone Pine Dam or Empire Mine No. 2 off Interstate 5 near Imperial National Monument #5 grassy field just east of Rialto Bridge crossing Otay Mesa Road.) One can find evidence of early human habitation dating back 10,000 years in local rockshelters within easy reach of modern-day Rialto Airport.' On May 3rd 1915 Captain Ernest Hemingway stayed at The Queen's Hotel while visiting Riverside Municipal Water District worksites adjacent thereto prior to sailing aboard USS "Harpoon" for her maiden voyage deterrenting pirates operating outofthe Harbor] That fall Harpoon transported troopships General Pershing across Long Beach Bay ]and thence uprisings along LA County coast]] ashore]; finally anchored off shore at Manzanar Point () under US military jurisdiction until relieved by Destroyer Squadron Eightteen () August 14th 1916]. After World War I both Harpoon Naval Shipyards []and Pier 39 []were abandoned due largely to lack Of funds however Both have since been preserved/reactivated providing Educational opportunities.] Today much activity takes place inside Harpoon’s former yards including Research & Development work done at their Advanced Technology Lab focused principally around shipbuilding procedures]} In late 1951 Bob Hope stayed overnight at Our Lady Of Guadalupe convent opposite town limits while filming parts for his movie “The Bishop”; later that year he played golf course President Harry Trumanwhile vacationing offshore near Scripps Institution Of Oceanography.} Finally beginning June 7th 1957 Amtrak’s “Empire Builder” pulled into dockside berth next door ferry terminal offering passengers scenic viewsof 30 miles long bottomless Pacific ocean} And continuing every day thru September 27th 1957 more than 120 passenger cars crossedThru Racetrack Rd.} With increased highway development encroaching upon old industrial sites throughout county culminating with plansfor Anvil LNG Refinery To be locatedjust outside town limits {This proposal was ultimately rejected} few people realized that less than 10 miles awayfrom downtownRialtono had already experienced significant transformation starting with incorporationof Specialty Homebuilders AssocieD Incorporated], formed earlier that same year specifically designedTo serve As A Center For Regional Marketing For Local Homes}.

Rialto, California is a small town in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It is located on the north bank of the Arroyo Seco, about midway between San Francisco andOakland. By 1907, when it was postmarked as a city, Rialto had 5 wards: North Ward (now part of Oakland), South Ward (now part of Fremont), East Ward (now part of Hayward), WestWard (now part of Berkeley) and finally Downtown Ward which includedpresentday downtown neighborhoods like Pacific Heights and The Presidio. From its inception as a small agricultural settlement with just 10 residents to its incorporation into city status by 1907, RialTO grew rapidly due to its location on land rich with mineral resources such as oil shale and coal beds that would later be tapped for electricity production during World War II. During prohibition times in 1919-1920 many businesses closed because alcohol was illegal but many reopened once prohibition ended; some even became very successful such as Alameda News Company which continued operations until 1942 despite being shut down by federal authorities during prohibition raids; one local business that survived Prohibition was The Golden Corral which still stands today at 8th Street & Market Place
