Rialto is a small city in Contra Costa County, California. It was founded on May 25, 1864 by American settlers. The city's first gunsmith, George Fenton, sold firearms to the military and police departments of San Francisco and Oakland until 1892. In 1893, the first shooting club was formed in Rialto. In 1911, the City Council passed an ordinance that authorized pistol licensing for women and allowed carrying of concealed handguns without a license. On December 13 of that year, Mayor Harry Wills signed into law an amendment to the city charter which granted Rialto voting rights throughout Contra Costa County and created aWeak mayor system. After World War II started in 1939, there were increases in crime due to soldiers stationed in the area; this made it difficult for citizens to obtain permits or licenses to carry pistols. In 1966-1967 two shootings took place within a one-mile radius of downtown Rialto: one at Marymount Park and another at White Sands Ammunition plant on Donner Pass Road near Interstate 680. At least five people were killed as a result of these shootings. In 1971-1972 three shootings took place within 1 mile radius: one at Golden Gate Park BART Station (near Crissy Field), another at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center (near Civic Center), and finally at Jardin du Luxembourg (near One Rincon Hill). All three shootings resulted in injuries or fatalities not connected with gun ownership but instead robberies or vandalism targeted against targets other than civilians
Rialto is a small village in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 1,590 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Rialto River. The Village of Rialto was first settled by Europeans in 1876 after they discovered the rich mineral resources of this area. The name "Rialto" comes from the Italian word for "bridge". The original bridge over the Rialto River was destroyed in a flood in 1882 but a new one was built soon afterward. The current bridge dates back to 1927 and has been listed as a California Historical Landmark. The rich minerals found near Rialto have led to several businesses being established here including an aluminum smelter and an oil refinery. In recent years, there has also been development in adjacent neighborhoods such as Westridge and Menlo Park which have helped drive growth for the village since its incorporation into Contra Costa County in 1978. Today, Rialto remains a relatively small town with close-knit community spirit and tight-knit relationships between its residents. Its farmers markets provide fresh produce every Saturday morning and it celebrates classic Italian dishes like lasagna every fall during Fasano's Festival of Colors.

Rialto, California is a town located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 20,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The name is Italian for "bridge over the river". The first people to live in what is now Rialto were Native Americans who hunted and gathered plants along the river banks. A small community called Horseshoe Bend developed around a ferry landing on the right bank of the river. In 1874, Colton Washburn donated land east of Rialto Creek to establish what would become Riverside City. Riverside City was incorporated on November 6, 1887. In 1912, J Brewster Hutchison founded Hutchison Film Company in Rialto with his brother-in-law Harry Cohn as their head producer and distributor. At that time Hollywood was based in Culver City and most films were made there. Hutchison's company became one of the leading filmmakers of its era and produced such classics as "The Godfather", " series" including "Moby Dick", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "4 Men Out" and " Sunset Boulevard". In 1961, he merged his company with United Artists Corporation to form UA Pictures Corporation which continued to produce films through 1992 when it was sold to Sony Pictures Entertainment Incorporated
