In 1949, Ammunition Row was sold to Julius Loewenstein and his company, Loewenstein & Sons Ammo Company, who continued to operate it until 1992 when it closed its doors permanently. Ammunition Row is now a museum located at 4242 Rialto Boulevard. The store has been open for tours since 1977 and features over 150 different types of firearms ammunition products from around the world.

In 1853, George Washington Goodwin built a log cabin near what is now downtown Rialto and became one of the first settlers in that area. By 1860, Goodwin's cabin had been replaced by a more permanent structure known as "New Goodwin". In 1865–1867, local farmers erected a wooden bridge over the river at what is now called Old Bridge Street in order to easier transportation between their fields and nearby warehouses. The bridge would later be replaced by one made from iron rods and cables.[2][3] In 1879, John H. Ralston bought land east of downtown Rialto from five other investors for $1 per acre (approximately $30 per square foot). He started building homes there and named his new community after himself – Raltonville (later renamed Valley Village).[4][5] By 1886, when he sold his holdings to Daniel Burnham,[6] valley village had become one of Southern California's most prosperous communities due to its lack of crime rates,[7] easy access to education[8], rich farmland,[9] and fine architecture including several churches[10][11][12][13]. During Prohibition years (1920–1933), area businesses illegally supplied liquor to customers in addition to providing products needed for illegal production such as tomatoes.[14]), leading to many arrests and prosecutions.[15]:101 As part of efforts toward urban renewal during the 1960s,[16]:102–103 however, many homes were razed or converted into housing developments such as Vallejo Landing; this led some residents who lived there until recently—chiefly elderly residents—to refer to themselves nostalgically as "the oldtimers".[17]:392 Some historians have suggested that although Valley Village may have lost some aspects associated with traditional Americana during its time as an alcohol-producing resort town,[18]:143 much remains unique about that era's culture hereabouts—such as social clubs which functioned like miniature bars today;[19][20]; antique shops which offered significant discounts on items taken off display at other stores due to prohibition restrictions;Andolanou Lodge & Casino operated outfitted with all manner of professional gaming devices then available including roulette wheels; Andolanou also hosted daily horse races throughout Prohibition while remaining open under government auspices; Gambling dens such as these continue extant today but are not typically visited by tourists because they are subject to state regulation governing operating hours etc.; another notable aspect preserved from those days was cemetery ownership by individuals rather than trusts or companies like modern day business entities do: burials continued unabated even though death certificates became public records post-Prohibition because tombstones remained unsigned until individual family members obtained them following legislation passed subsequently limiting cemeteries' powers).[21]:160 It wasn't until 1982 that Valley Village's largest employer moved away from town altogether - Kaiser Permanente Hospital moved into new facilities located just north across I-580 from Vallejo Landing - spurring further redevelopment activity within town boundaries around that same time period culminating in 2002 with full incorporation into City Limits Park district
