Redwood City is a city in San Mateo County, California. The population was 56,146 at the 2010 census. It is the fourth-most populous city in San Mateo County and the third-largest city in Silicon Valley. Redwood City has been nicknamed "The Capital of Silicon Valley" for its importance in the valley's technology industry and its role as a center for research and development of new technologies. Redwood City was founded by entrepreneurs John Witherspoon and James Eads on December 29, 1868, as a small agricultural town named Harcourtville. The town became an important early center for computer science and artificial intelligence due to its location within close range of several leading firms such as Intel, Apple Inc., Xerox PARC, Stanford University, and National Radio Company. In 1972, Microsoft moved from Palo Alto to Redwood City after acquiring Omnicom Communications Company's software business there. In 1984, Adobe Systems moved from Santa Clara to Redwood City; this led to the nickname "Adobe Valley". Redwood City is located on Mare Island near Point Reyes Station on the San Francisco Peninsula overlooking Golden Gate Park and Sausalito Bay. The peninsula forms part of theSanta Cruz Mountains which run along its eastern edge. As of the census of 2000,[1] there were 55,046 people living in Redwood City proper (excluding satellite communities), 14 percent of whom were foreign born;[2] about one-third came from Asia or Pacific Rim countries: Japan (14 percent), China (10 percent), South Korea (8 percent), Taiwan (5 percent), Philippines (4 percent) and Malaysia (3 percent). Of Japanese descent particularly concentrated are among Asians who have lived here since before World War II: 44percent live offamily home alone while 35percent live with someone else who also resides in Redwoodscity proper.[3][4] Chinese residents make up about one-quarter of all redwoodscity residents;[5] they have historically come from areas such as Fuzhou in Fujian Province and Beijing Municipality; however recent waves include many AngelenosfromSouth Los Angeles County including Midtown UCLA

From the primitive bows and arrows of pre-historic times to the Firearms Act of 1795, gun targets have been a key component in many Gun Safety initiatives. The first actual firearm target was created in India in 1853 by British soldiers stationed there. It was a crude affair made from pieces of wood or bamboo that were nailed together to form an artificial target. The British military used this target to test their new firearms, some of which were very inaccurate. In 1902, the United States set up a Target & Rifle Association (T&RA) to help promote shooting sport among Americans. This association allowed Americans to buy and use firearms for recreational purposes without having to go through government regulations or registration processes. In 1923, T&RA recommended that all handguns be registered with the government as it became apparent that many people were not safe using unregistered firearms. Today, gun targets are one of the most popular forms of Archery participation across the globe due to their simplicity and accessibility – they can be erected quickly and easily at any park or public place. They can also be used as teaching tools for young archers who may notyet be abletoshoot accurately on traditional bowhunting/bowtargeting ranges.

Redwood City is a city located in San Mateo County, California. The population was 96,829 at the 2010 census. It is the second largest city in San Mateo County after Palo Alto and has been growing rapidly for the past few decades. Redwood City became an incorporated city on January 1, 1974. In 1988, Redwood City became one of 25 cities to be designated a "smart city" by the Mayor of San Francisco. The Smart Cities Initiative promotes smart living practices such as energy conservation and waste reduction that will lead to increased economic development opportunities for Redwood City. The first people who lived in what is now Redwood City date back to 1769 when Junipero Serra explored present-day Marin County with his expedition led by Gaspar de Portolà. He named it Point Reyes National Monument because of its resemblance to Punta Arenas on Isla de la Juventud (Island of Young Women). In 1821, Don José Altamont discovered redwoods near where the modern-day downtown stands today and ordered Surveyor General George Arthur Design to plant them as part of his Rancho Santa Clara del Norte grant from Spanish Governor Felipe De Jesús Castro y Mendoza. When design returned from his trip in 1825 he reported that there were “no trees whatsoever” remaining except for a few small ones near Mission Bay which he had permission from Mexican governor Vicente Guerrero to cut down as timber exports grew in importance under Ulysses S. Grant’s administration following Mexico’s independence from Spain. WhenAmerican explorer Jedediah Smith traveled through California during his Overland Expedition of 1846–48 he noted some large redwoods about four miles northeast of what is now downtown Redwood City on Highway 101A (now US101). On July 5, 1850 American Commodore John Doolittle landed at Alcatraz Island off Point Reyes National Seashore and anchored next to what is now Fort Point on December 12th while exploring present-day Marin County and noticed some large redwoods about two miles east of where Doolittle anchored offshore on June 29th called Pistolero Point according to contemporary Navy records compiled by Robert Ballard later that year while visiting Alcatraz with then Secretary Of The Navy Franklin D Marshall during the Roosevelt Administration's War Department examination tour of military installations throughout California including Anacapa Island October 14 – 16 1945 In 1872 Captain James Waddell sailed close inshore around Cape Horn before making landfall at Estero Peninsula defining modern day Sausalito coastline southward along Withrow Strait westward into Sonoma Strait aboard ship Raccoon Coasting Squadron #27 while en route between Vallejo Harbor & Catalina Islands
