These businesses sold various types and colors of eyeglasses, lens supplies, photography equipment, and more- all while providing an intimate experience for their customers. These storefronts are now long gone but their footprints remain in Redondo Beach history through their legacy in the optical industry.

However, many other Italians continued living here after the war ended because they found work opportunities outside of America. In 1951, Redondo Beach became an incorporated city with its own government and Mayor John Ahern became its first mayor. From then until 1990, when it merged with Hermosa Beach into one municipality, Redondo beach had its own governing body called the Board of Trustees. During this time period there were several major projects that took place in Redondo Beach including: The construction of beacheside apartment complexes; The opening of shopping malls throughout Orange County; Riverboat casinos such as Harrah's/Del Mar; And numerous other civic organizations which helped contribute to shaping today’s community atmosphere within minutes’ walk of almost every family member’s house! Today's culture-rich community is made up primarily of Italian American workers who have come generations ago to build thriving businesses along our coastlines

It is located on the coast of Orange County and its boundaries are seaward of City Hall to the east, Seal Beach to the north, and Hermosa Beach to the west. On January 1, 1871, it became an independent city when parts of Laguna Niguel were annexed by Anaheim. In 1916, Redondo BEACH became an official county seat with Torrance taking over as county seat two years later On July 15th 1990, Newport Coast Harbor closed due to high waves caused by Hurricane Andrew which made landfall in Southern California near San Clemente Island
