There have been guns in Redlands, California for over 100 years. The first gun in the area was probably a musket dating back to 1824. It is likely that early guns were made of wood and steel, because early settlers used them for hunting and protection. The first real firearm in Redlands was a rifle, created by Captain George Crippen in 1852. He designed it to be able to shoot balls as big as squirrels out of a long barrel. This type of weapon quickly became popular among farmers and other La Raza people who needed to protect themselves from Indians or predators. In 1875, the Mayor of Redlands passed an ordinance allowing handguns within city limits. This opened up many opportunities for Texans to come and live in Redlands and buy firearms, which helped spur the growth of the gun industry here. Over time, different types of guns have been manufactured here including revolvers (rifles), shotguns, pistols, rifles, machineguns and even sniper rifles! The Redlands Pistol and Rifle Club, Inc. was formed in 1911. The first gun sales occurred in 1912 with a .22 caliber rifle. In 1916 the club began selling pistols and shotguns. The first pistol sale took place on October 11 of that year. In 1917 the club began importing guns from Europe, starting with a Belgian model revolver called the "Charcuterie". From 1919 through 1929 the club imported guns from Spain, Portugal, and Italy. On February 15, 1923, after many years of discussion, Redlands Pistol & Rifle Club voted to incorporate as a nonprofit organization under State law number 64027-C2 (the California Gun Owners' Association). This gave the club automatic rights to all state firearms registrations held by any individual or organization which had not already been granted this right by Act 646 of 1922 (the predecessor to California's current Firearms Code). It is interesting to note that at this time membership dues were only $5 per year; however total liabilities for goods and services sold amounted to over $200 per year! This reflected an industry-wide trend where firearm owners banded together as an organized group in order to protect their interests against government infringements on Second Amendment rights.
Redlands, California is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California. As of 2010, the population was 127,878. The name Redlands was derived from Spanish for "red earth," and refers to the red sandstone that dominates much of the city. The first European settlers in what is now Redlands were Missionaries who arrived in 1783. In 1848, General Antonio L Alvarado established Adobe Walls as part of his effort to control Rancho Santa Anita which encompassed present-day Redlands and parts of neighboring cities such as Fullerton and Claremont. A year later, Redlands became an incorporated town with a population of 25 residents. In 1882–1883, Gold Rush entrepreneurs founded the First National Bank in downtown Redlands with $5000 worth of gold prospectors' shares. The bank quickly became one of most important financial institutions in Southern California during this time period. early 20th century growth saw new businesses come into being including automobiles (the Ford dealership opened its doors on Crenshaw Boulevard in 1912), printing presses (The Claremont Press published its first book in 1915), theaters (Theaters at FirstNational opened its doors on Olive Street), department stores (Mallards began operating out of the old Briggs & Stratton factory across from City Hall) and aircraft manufacturing plants (De Havilland Aircraft took over production at their main facility near today's Slough Road). During World War II, local industries produced munitions such as ammunition and airplane parts; however, they also produced little economic value aside from providing employment for local workers during peacetime periods when no military action was taking place nearby After World War II ended there was continued growth until 1990 when redrawing of boundaries within Los Angeles County caused many smaller neighborhoods to merge with larger ones leaving Redlanders as only a small portion comprising buildings still stands primarily residential areas east off Ontario Avenue north towards Slough Road while other portions have been replaced by commercial/industrial developments or are vacant land developmentally speaking

Redlands was founded in 1871 as a small town on the edge of San Joaquin Valley. It quickly became one of the most important agricultural and manufacturing centers in California, and its fortunes continue to wax and wane over the years. Redlands' history can be traced back to 1871 when it was founded as a small town on the edge of San Joaquin Valley by landowner James Fenton. By 1870, Redlands had become one of the largest cotton plantations in California with more than 1,000 acres (400 hectares). Over time, Redlands grew into a thriving commercial center with numerous businesses including an sawmill, gristmill, bakery, cheese factory and post office. In 1916, Redlands became part of the newly formed City of Stockton after voters approved incorporation. Thecity experienced rapid growth during World War I due to its strategic location at the crossroads for goods entering and leaving California from points east. The city also played an important role in wartime military production by producing munitions such as aircraft parts and tanks. However, during Prohibition era-era times many businesses closed or went out of business due to prohibition regulations that were difficult or impossible to overcome without government assistance. In 1930s Redlanders began experiencing a large population increase due mainly to migration from surrounding rural communities within Silicon Valley; however this migration slowed down after World War II when industry supplanted agriculture as America's major source of jobs. From 1951 until 1975 Redlanders had a two-term Mayor who was reelected each year with no opposition despite high taxes and growing crime rates which led to social unrest among young people known as "The New Breed." In 1975 Redlanders voted overwhelmingly against Proposition 13 which repealed all but state property tax exemptions for homeowners within cities limits while increasingstate sales taxes by 10%. This move signaled simmering discontent among residents about municipal control over their lives although it would not leadto any major revolts until later in that decade when campaigning for mayor turned into open warfare between factions within city government over issues like zoning laws and revenue sharing with adjacent unincorporated areas called East Stockton . In 1984 City Manager Roger Liversidge merged East Stockton into Redlands effective January 1st following years of debate between EastStockton residents who wanted full incorporation ( similar to what happened with neighboring Rancho Cordova )and Liversidge's predecessor John Kapp who argued that annexation would lead to increased crime rates because there would be less room for police patrol given increased competition for limited resources across larger jurisdictions . On October 14th 1994 aftermath of a mass shooting at nearby Golden State University left six students dead and twenty-four wounded; this event helped feed public sentiment against annexations seen throughout much of Orange County towardslarge suburban municipalities while leaving smaller townsisolated behind
