Redlands is a city in western California, located on the San Andreas Fault. The population was 129,723 as of 2018. It is the most populous city in Orange County and fifth-most populous city in Los Angeles County. The name Redlands comes from Rancho Redondo, a Spanish land grant given to Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo by King Philip II of Spain in 1769. The first American settlement in what is now Redlands was made by John Day and his party on July 24, 1847. One hundred miles (160 km) east of Redlands at Saugus was the first permanent U.S.-Mexico border crossing with Mexico that has been preserved as a historical site. At this location Padres Francisco Lopez de Santa Ana founded Mission San Gabriel Arcangelico on September 2, 1772 after being ordered by Mexican Governor Manuel Nieto to take up arms against the growing United States presence along the frontier. In 1848, when California became part of the United States, rancho grants were transferred from Spanish owners to American ones and began to be sold to Anglo settlers. In 1851–52 two Mormon missionaries named George Smith and temple missionary David Whitmer traveled through Redlands looking for an opportunity to proselytize into local Mexican Catholics living near missions operated by Padre Nuestro Santidad (Our Lady of Sorrows), but they failed to find converts there either. They decided instead to continue their campaign across southern Orange County using small villages such as Tustin and Fullerton among others as centers for operations before finally reaching San Bernardino Valley through Modoc Pass on April 12, 1857; there they successfully baptized 10 Indians who had followed them from Tustin two days earlier while conducting missionary services at Coyote Lake below where present-day Cathedral National Monument stands today just south of Interstate 5 bridge over Mono Creek Canyon divides Riverside counties from Kern county). When Mexican president Maximilian I recognized America’s independence on November 8th, Mexico ceded all its lands north of Baja California Sur including parts of modern-day Southern Californias including what are now Fresno and Anaheim Counties;[1] henceforth these areas were known as Alta California (“upper California”). Gun chokes have been used throughout history for a variety of reasons. The earliest known instances of gun choking are from the 6th century BC when two Scythian nomads, Chieftain Orontes and his shaman, Dara killed three men with bows and arrows using a traditional means of execution. Gun chokes were also used during the Crusades in order to prevent Jerusalem from falling to Muslim domination. In 1866, Major General George Armstrong Custer was found shot dead with a shotgun in his hand by Sioux chiefs Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. It was later determined that Custer had been choked with a wire net while lying prone on the ground. In 1903, Sir John Templeton developed an early form of choke gun which he called the "Templeton Rifle" after himself and Sir James Templeton who donated $5,000 towards its development. The rifle was designed to be fired through a door or window into another room whereupon it would automatically discharge automatically without having to be pulled back again like other firearms. This proved difficult to use as it required someone with perfect hands-eye coordination to fire it correctly and caused many casualties due to uncontrollable shootings outside the room where the victim was standing or sitting. The first effective GUN CHOKES were created by Drs Johann Gutenberg and Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1543 when they invented the printing press and subsequently their own type of choke gun which became known as THE FIRST GUN CHOKING WEAPON

In 1912, Redlands became a city through an act of the California State Legislature.
