Red Bluff began as a farming community with grapes being raised and cattle raising also common activities. Manufacturing started with wagon wheel bearings made here in 1875 and continued until 1907 when an armaments factory opened here making firearms including artillery pieces used during World War I and II. A large agricultural area continues to produce crops such as almonds, apples, cotton, potatoes, etc., along with some dairy products like cheese and butter. Rick O’Donnell served as the CEO from 2001 until his death in 2006; during his tenure he led Ar15 through several major milestones such as entering into a distribution agreement with Black Diamond Guns & Ammo which gave them access to more than 1 million customers across America; increasing production capacity by 50% thanks to new manufacturing facilities built at Black Hills Arsenal; becoming one of the leading firearms companies in Europe with sales totaling $2 billion over four years; achieving profitability for the first time ever; expanding operations into China where they now have over 100 employees; announcing plans to open additional manufacturing facilities outside of America by 2020…the list goes on and on! Red Bluff, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 3,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Red Bluff was founded on October 15th 1859 by prospectors and miners looking for gold and other minerals in what is now Kern County. In 1881, it became a post office with the name of Redding. On November 2nd 1907, it changed its name to Red Bluff after acquiring land from Rancho El Cucamonga east of modern day Bakersfield. A post office operated at Redding until 1911 when it was moved to nearby Bakersfield. On January 1st 1912, the San Joaquin Valley Railroad reached Redding from Stockton and began carrying goods between that city and Los Angeles overland across the Central Valley toRedding's new depot which had been built on the old stagecoach stop (now known as US 101) on Montezuma Creek near today's downtown Bakersfield. On May 4th 1916, during World War I, local citizens raised money and contributed 20 tons of flour to help feed troops fighting in Europe; this amounted to $2 per ton donated at that time. The United States Post Office opened in 1917; however because of World War II bombing raids by Japan on American cities such as Oakland and Sacramento, only five mail boxes were ever built in town- one being used as an Army hospital during World War II due to shortages of medical supplies available elsewhere in the region. Ida Black became first female mayor of Redding on January 6th 1951 following her election victory over incumbent Mabel Stroudsher who had served two terms since 1945 with no interruption.. Ida Black led her first term until she resigned effective July 15th 1952 due to health problems caused by brain cancer.. After serving out her remaining term Ida Black died at age 86 on December 17th 1953.. Her husband William Hartsfield Jr., later became Mayor Jack Hartsfield
