Rancho Santa Margarita is a small, rural town located in the San Luis Obispo County region of California. It is bordered by the towns of Arroyo Grande to the south and east, Agua Caliente to the north, and Isla Vista to the west. The namesake Rancho Santa Margarita was founded in 1848 by Francisco Paloma de la Garza and his wife Juana Maria del Pino. The area that now includes Rancho Santa Margarita was part of Mexican land grant Rancho Encinal. In 1851, Mexico ceded this land to America via Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. On July 30,1881, during the American Civil War, Confederate General Robert E. Lee attacked Ulysses S. Grant's army at Resaca de Tejas near present day Arroyo Grande. Union General John Custer retreated several miles before being surrounded and killed by Confederate troops under Major General Philip Sheridan on September 3rd of that year. On November 5th 1865, a group of men from Rancho Santa Margarita fought for Federal forces against Confederate forces commanded by Lt Colonel John Joseph Pershing at Bristow's Gap in Northern California. This engagement is considered one of the bloodiest engagements in American history as over 60% of both sides' casualties were reported among ranch hands who participated in what became known as "The Battle of Bristow's Gap." In 1912, United States President Grover Cleveland announced that all firearms used in University exercises would be banned except for shotguns which could be possessed by professors with a valid license from local sheriff custody only for instructional purposes; these regulations remain in place today (except for handguns). Since then gun slings have been an integral part of university ceremonies including athletic events and commencement exercises throughout North America!

The Rancho Santa Margarita gun slings history begins in 1875 when Hugo Chavez, a Mormon missionary, and his wife, Lourdes, bought 6 acres of land near the present-day town of Rancho Santa Margarita. The Chavez family built a small ranch house on the property and started to shoot firearms for sport. In 1892, Chavez' son Jerald purchased the land from Hugo Chavez and continued to run the ranch. In 1916, Jerald's son Gilberto purchased additional lands around the house. Together they formed what is now known as Rancho Santa Margarita Gun Slings & Equipment Company (RSMEC). In 1924, RSMEC began manufacturing its own guns and ammunition. It became one of the largest gun manufacturers in California. During World War II, RSMEC produced Approximately 1 million rounds of ammunition for the military. In 1951, RSMEC merged with Browning Manufacturing Company to form Browning-RSMEC Corporation (BROC). BROC was renamed again in 1969 toBrowning Arms Company Incorporated (BACI) after Browning's acquisition of Ruger Holding Corporation. In 1992 BACI merged with Colt Firearms Corporation to form Colt Firearms Incorporated (CFLI). From then until 2004 Colt Firearms produced handguns only under license from BACI/BROC/CFLI. On July 1st 2006 all operations at BACI/BROC were transferred into new company called "Ruger USA LLC." At this time Ruger manufacture handguns under license from four other companies: Smith & Wesson Corporation (S&W), Sturmovik Industries Limited(STIL), Beretta AG (Beretta) and Sig Sauer AG(Sigs)
Rancho Santa Margarita is a Spanish name for a ranch in Northern California. The original land grant, Rancho Santa Margarita Viejo, was given to Juan Bautista de Anza by Governor Manuel Nieto in 1836. It ran from east to west along the shore of San Francisco Bay and included present-day Marin County and parts of Sonoma County. The grant was later divided into two tracts, one including present day Marin County and the other including much of Napa County. In 1853, Jose Maria del Carmen Magdaleno granted part of Rancho Santa Margarita Viejo to his brother-in-law José Joaquín Moraga. From then on, the property passed through families until it was acquired by the US Army in 1862 during the Mexican American War. In 1865, General Edward Payson Taliaferro purchased 640 acres (256 ha) adjacent to Rancho Santa Margarita from Moraga for $2,500. The area became known as Camp Sherman after General Taliaferro's headquarters at Fort Mason in San Francisco. A small community developed around Sherman due to its proximity to markets and other activities at Fort Mason. After World War II, portions of Camp Sherman were used as an airfield by the USAAF Ninth Air Force during World War II and as a military prison during the McCarthy era;[1] most notably Buckeye Lake which housed some 100 political prisoners between 1945 and 1949.[2] After years of being unused,Camp Sherman was reopened as a research center by Caltech in 1967;[3] it continueduse until 1993 when it closed again because of budget cuts related to globalization and technology change. Today only a few foundations continue occasional visits from researchers from all over the world at various laboratories located on site; however there is no single occupant or organization control over any aspect of these labs which makes them unique among universities or research institutions across North America today. Rancho Santa Margarita served as a grazing land for the California gold rush in 1849. The rancho was founded by José Cámpora and his wife, Doña María de la Cruz. The first home on the rancho was built in 1851 by Pedro Romero. In 1860, José Gabriel García Márquez purchased the rancho from Manuel Antonio Reyes y Valdés. Rancho Santa Margarita became part of the Mexican government after war with United States over Texas annexation in 1846. In 1850, Chico Orozco took up arms against Mexico and fought at Cerro Gordo under U.S command; he lost an arm and was captured but later pardoned by American authorities. After Mexican independence, Chico returned to Rancho Santa Margarita where he ran it until his death in 1912. In 1880, Don Carlos Peralta acquired most of what is now San Bernardino County from Mexico; this included Rancho Santa Margarita which he donated to the county for development into a rural community known as Rancho San Bernardino (later renamed San Bernardino County). When Peralta died in 1901, his widow donated all of her remaining lands to the county including Rancho Santa Margarita which again became known as San Bernardino County. In 1942, during World War II, many people living near Edwards Air Force Base were relocated to nearby Palm Springs due to air-raiding operations over Orange COUNTY. This forced numerous changes within the local population as well as within the agricultural sector since much of what had been used for agriculture now lay fallow because of lack of customers or materials necessary to operate such equipment anymore due to wartime scarcity of both labor and resources
Rancho Santa Margarita was a land grant in California to Francisco Dominguez, Sr. and his wife, Juana de la Cruz. The two were the first Europeans to settle in what is now southern California. Rancho Santa Margarita became an important ranch in the region due to its rich gold and silver deposits. In 1848, it passed from Spanish hands to American ownership after Mexico ceded it back to America following the Mexican-American War. The land was later sold off and used for other purposes such as housing development, farming, and forestry until it was reclaimed by the government in 1969 as part of effortsto improve water quality in southern California.
