The Rancho Palos Verdes Shooting Club was founded on September 21, 1892 by a group of individuals who were interested in shooting sports. The club initially consisted of just six people and hired one shooter to act as the first president. After a few years, the club increased in membership and hired their own shooters. In 1907, the club moved from its original location to what is now known as the Range at 6200 North First Street. At this point, the Rancho Palos Verdes Shooting Club became one of the most popular shooting clubs in Southern California. In 1912, Charles Whitman shot and killed three people at University of Texas at Austin before fatally shooting himself. This event led to an increase in safety regulations for school shootings across America. As a result of this tragedy, Rancho Palos Verdes became one of the first communities in Northern California to adopt gun control laws. In 1923, Chuck Connors joined Rancho Palos Verdes Shooting Club as their first ever coach and has been responsible for turning it into one of Southern California’s most successful shooting clubs. Since then, Chuck Connors has helped develop some of today’s top shooters including Adam Lanza and Seung-Hui Cho. This past year saw another milestone when Chuck Connors passed away after long battle with leukemia

Rancho Palos Verdes, California is a small town located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 26,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The name "Rancho Palos Verdes" means "PLANTS WALKING DOWN," and it was given to the area by Don Pedro Crespi in 1875 when he purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of Rancho Sánchez Tejon from José Joaquín de la Torre. In 1876, Don Pedro's brother-in-law, Manuel Nieto bought 602 acres (247 hectares). These lands were subdivided into several tracts and sold over time to other ranchers and investors. In 1902, Dr. George Parkman developed a tract of land east of Rancho Palos Verdes on what is now Roncesvalles Boulevard for use as a citrus orchard and dairy farm. He named his property after his friend, Governor John P. Morgan of California. In 1923, Mr. Harry Kellar acquired 816 acres (309 hectares) north of Rancho Palos Verds on what is now Paca Point Road from Drs. Parkman and Walter Winchell for use as an experimental agricultural research station known as Arroyo Seco Agricultural Experiment Station No. 1 (ASESI #1). The site was renamed ASESI #2 in 1945 following World War II when Japanese forces captured it during the Battle of Liri Shuri near present-day Rancho Palos Verdes Peninsula on November 11th1945 In 1957, ASESI No.#1 became part of CSUCLA's Pomona Campus with responsibility for undergraduate agriculture programs; howeverASESI No.#2 continued to be operated by UCLA until its closure in 1996 due to budgetary constraints within the university system . As early as 1951 certain parcels including those around present day Rangito Beach had been targeted for development into a new township which would include both Soquel Landing Rd., adjacent to Arroyos Secos Creek Rd., now State Route 17A about 2 miles east of Highway 101 & Rangito Beach Blvd., & current day EastCoast Rd., called West Side Township but never materialized because no one wanted to live there!
